Even after losing 2 of 3 vs dbacks, I felt pretty good about the season heading into philly. We sent Swanson down, which sucked some excitement out of the last few months for me. Then we got swept by the worst team in baseball. Now I'm back to being more excited about MiLB box scores than the Atlanta games.

Haven't won a game since Dansby got demoted
 
I'm not saying that this has happened, but the team had really played beyond its talent for most of the season (especially given how much time Freeman missed). A lot of the game is played between the ears and I think the team has hit a wall--physical, mental, emotional--of sorts. Don't get me wrong; this year's edition was never that good, they have been playing hard, but there's only so much gas in the tank. They were bound for a let-down. My guess is that they will put almost everyone on the roster on waivers and see if anything develops on the trade front throughout August. I think one of the big obstacles on the trade front is that it's fairly clear that the front office does not want to send money along in any deal.
 
We had to many guys playing over their heads and it gave false hope. Now some of those guys are coming back down to earth and it's showing.
 
Camargo has hit all of .147 in the last 8 games, he also has shown a real weakness to fielding balls to his left, he gets to nothing to the left, he does not seem to have that instinctual first step to a ball hit to the left.
 
They played well over their heads. They are a very flawed team still. I think it's cute that people thought the Braves were going to buyers at the deadline or that this team was anything better than bad.
 
Hopefully we keep sucking and get a high enough pick to land Kumar Rocker.

This season has played out perfectly IMO. We were able to stay around .500 and give fans the idea the team was improving but never took it beyond that and have now started losing so that no one was tempted to think we had to buy anything. Hopefully we can get another top 5-10 pick now and then start calling up the young guys next year.

A HS RHP has still never gone 1-1, so we may not even have to catch the Phillies. Number 2 would be nice.

Still one of the most curious traits to me - the money's already been budgeted for and "spent" in their eyes, I just can't see the holdup after spending $10-ish million to buy Touki.
