Before Cano flew out to Seattle for salmon at the Space Needle restaurant, Cashman was already trying to reach Wren to discuss this very matter. The Yankees might be willing to take on the remainder of Uggla's contract. They want BJ Upton also, because they realize that dedicated Braves fans are upset and have no where else to turn. They'd like to assist Atlanta with salary relief as a gesture of goodwill. Since they signed away McCann, they just want to make sure that there aren't any lingering hard feelings. Baseball can be such a cruel business!
 
I wonder if an Uggla for Ichiro trade makes sense now that Cano isn't playing 2B in NY. Ichiro might be a nice bench piece at $6.5M.
 
This from the winter meetings, one competing GM says, for the Braves to trade Uggla it would have to be a "giveaway" so it looks like Uggla will be staying.
