What was the stupidest thing the three Johns did?

lmao zito bringing up his brother's swing hahahaha i'm dying

Ya know, I was a helluva player in junor high, and Jr. Babe Ruth and Sr. Babe Ruth - switch-hitting SS with a little pop (overwhelmingly 2Bs and 3Bs power, mind you), best defensive player in the area, played on the area All-Star team every year, stole my share of bases...

that qualifies me for what, exactly?!?!?

You can't quantify it because it's something that has to be assessed by a professional. I said TLS had more power in the minors than Peterson, and it's likely it will stay that way. You came out of left field with your "expert" analysis. You're the one who decided to make this into a whole thing. I've proven in several ways that TLS should have more power than Peterson, with numbers, with basic swing analysis. Etc. You have nothing backing you but one month of watchign Peterson play and 2 months of watching TLS. Maybe a little more on TLS.

A "professional" what?

Can we see your license?

Season is still young.

Peterson has a high ceiling. I wonder if he'll move to the OF assuming RUiz cements his position at 3B. Ruiz is another high potential bat. From what I've read Ruiz is the better defender though it's neither of their calling cards.

Dustin Peterson has already moved to the OF, he was moved off third to LF in Spring Training and that's where he's been playing so far this year.

They're moving the team because it's best for the franchise. It isn't the team's responsibility to invest in the community. If the city didn't want them to move, they should have invested in it. They haven't put a dime into that area. They took the team for granted, so the team is leaving.

uh huh. in reality, somebody threw a bazillion dollars at them and they jumped on it. maximize profit no matter the cost! moving to the freeway is so 1960. what a joke and a disaster, but i suppose it's perfect for gas guzzling bible thumping lily white cobb county.

I don't think our ownership cares about fans, but they do care about making money. Once the front office puts together a package that will lead to increased revenues (as long as people show up), I expect payroll to increase to put a team on the field that will draw even more to games.

I want new ownership, but we have what we have. The money from BJ's contract will be subtracted from the budget, so I full expect that money to be spent on new players. If you think we'll just blow it on another high-priced dud, then you should at least have more confidence in Hart than Wren in that area.

they won't blow that money on a high priced dud. they'll use so help their balance sheets to help maximize stock prices and year end bonuses. mark it. liberty doesn't care about anything but money when it comes to the braves. so much so that they've made one of the gravest mistakes a team has ever made in running away from the black people. if the braves wanted to invest in atlanta, the resources are there. they aint interested. white power baby.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous (not the part about Liberty - they suck).

The Braves are moving the team closer to their ticket buying fan base. That's not a black or white thing. It's all about green.

Look on the bright side...Cobb County is much more convenient to you than Memphis, which is where I'll be moving the Braves once I convince Liberty to sell them to me.

You sound bitter.

Most of the Braves' attendance, even now, comes from the suburbs. Pretending they're 'abandoning' the city or their fans is a joke.

The Hawks, as they have done, should market mostly to those inside the city. The Braves shouldn't.

Sure, and abandoning the city for the suburbs is still a shortsighted decision.

I would largely agree, but I have no clue how things are run in Atlanta. I know that teams like the Phillies get by with huge suburban fan bases, but the stadium is just off 95 and there's public transportation running righ tthere. I understand it's not that simple in Atlanta.

Is attendence better in places close to your work or to your house?

The Braves play almost exclusively at 7 or 7:30 when at home. I can't imagine there are many people who are getting off around 5 and chilling near Turner Field until game time.

Moving the stadium closer to the ticket base, so that even those who work in the city can stop on their way home, spend some time around the stadium before/after the game, then be closer to home when the game is over makes all the sense in the world.

The only people I've seen who are upset are those who live in the city, and most of them don't go to games as it is.

Yeah, there's that.

So people go home, then back out to the stadium?

Is there going to be mass transportation to stadium?

Yeah, there's that.

The city of Atlanta should have built a MARTA fork out to Turner Field back when they were designing the Olympic stadium. It was poor urban planning and there's no excuse for it.

Come to think of it, as much as I love Atlanta, it is a pretty stark example of how sprawl can negatively impact/dislocate economic and cultural centers.

I think, ultimately, the Braves would have been better served to have really pushed for a MARTA line to Turner Field and then taken the Gold Lot/Hyundai parking lots and turned that space into the 'ballpark village' that they apparently view as this integral component to their middle-class revenue generating scheme out in Cobb.

I just don't like the move, almost purely from a community building perspective.

Some do, yes. A lot also don't work in the city. I can't think of anyone I know who works in the city but lives in the suburbs who has gone straight to the stadium from work, unless they got off after 6.

Regardless, it's insane to suggest those who live in the suburbs and work in the city will be less likely to attend games at the new location. If anything, they might be the most likely group to see a spike in attendance.

Didn't it have to do with politics? I remember a certain city councilman had owned some land there by the TED but waz asking for too much from the city when they wanted to buy and build a line to Turner. Now it's just dead. Sucks too because rail access would've alleviated so much congestion for gamedays.

Savannah is facing a big traffic cluster **** In terms of traffic in the next 5 years. It already is facing major traffic issues in 6 important parts of the city and the county and city are doing nothing because of resentment to Atlanta DOT. And every t-splost has failed.
