What will become of the Trump administration?

We all assume that the GOP majority Congress is going do everything they can, and they can do a lot if they get their act together, to protect their man, their agenda and themselves. But this scandal is reaching a critical mass and something big is going to go down.

What's going to be the outcome?

Nothing
Resignation
Impeachment, not guilty
Impeachment, guilty
Actual jail time for him or anyone associated with him

Trump, if pushed into a corner, will not back down, at least not at first. In the end perhaps he could be persuaded by his family to step down if impeachment were inevitable. I think he'll eventually resign, after a long brouhaha, never admit anything and go to his grave blaming Obama and the media.

Depends a lot on if the Democrats get control of the Senate in 2018. If so they impeach him and Pence takes over.

I don't think the Dems would impeach with basically 1 year and a lameduck Presidential year left in Trump's presidency.

Just gonna McConnell until 2020.

So the ssunption is trump wouldn't steamroll in 2020? Economy is trending up and that will be the #1 decider.

Absent some catastrophic event, the Dems aren't going to take the Senate in 2018. The map for them is horrible this cycle.

Trump is not going to be impeached unless there's incontrovertible proof of collusion between his campaign and the Russian government. I think the odds of that are low. My guess is that there's going to be circumstantial evidence and a lot of stink, but no smoking gun.

There are all kinds of other little stinkbombs floating around out there (the New Yorker's Trump Baku article this week detailing TO deal with a massively corrupt Azerbaijani minister wired into the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is a good example) but with Republicans running oversight, they're never going to amount to much. Trump is unpopular for a newly elected President, but Democrats, generically, are even less popular.

I think the Trump claims of 4%+ growth are nonsense, but I agree with thethe that his prospects are going to be tied to the economy. If the economy is humming in 2020, there's every chance he'll be re-elected. If it's not, his act is going to wear thin.

i agree with this

but i don't agree that even having incontrovertible proof of collusion would sway the votes it would take. it's obvious they don't actually believe anything of the so called principles they spout and only care about party over country

Eh, that's probably right. It would have to touch him directly and specifically for there to be even a shot.

1. This jobs report has very little to do with Trump - unless you want to say that his election has inspired so much confidence in business that they decided to hire like crazy.

2. Goldfly is incompetent when it comes to numbers so I wouldn't bother engaging

I think there is genuine optimism in the business community that we have a president who isn't anti business. Trump will create a more business friendly environemnt. But tax reform needs to be passed soon.

I agree... and not that Goldy will understand, but the growth to the baseline of this February's number is a lot more impressive than last year's.
