What Would A "Fair" Freeman Extension Look Like?

I still don’t think he wanted to go to LA over ATL. I think his agent played stupid games and won stupid prizes. The game of chicken with the offer back fired.

He should of pulled an Andruw then. If he really wanted to be here then he would of taken what the Braves offered.

It would appear as if the Braves gave Freeman a final offer and a time frame to accept said offer. He didn’t accept and they pulled the trigger on Olsen. I would imagine it was a 5 year 135-140mm deal. Freeman was stuck on 6. Basically ended up with the Dodgers as only real bidders.

I think the rumors that he wanted a sunset deal are probably true, because he knew he could get 5/6 years from the Dodgers. I feel quite sure he would have taken the Olson contract if we gave him that.

It's possible that he overplayed his hand with LA though. His agent probably could have milked them out of more money if he played it better. Crazy to think that Kris Bryant got a bigger deal than he did.
