What has happened to Johan? His batting stance looks ridiculous right now. He’s hitting his head with his bat waggle. He still seems to be able to play a quality defensive SS but that looks like the only place he can play right now where his bat is not a complete liability. Has the super sub we all thought we were getting reverted into a glove first defensive replacement?

He sucks. I still have faith he’s that super sub we thought he was, but he sucks right now. There’s no other way around it.

This will be proven true or false soon enough. I am not worried at this point since Dans will be back soon enough. We have a good lead and have this time to let him show us what he can do.

I don’t know. I think he needs to make some mechanical adjustments with his swing. The glove work has been strong at SS though.

Nothing is “wrong with him” other than the fact he isn’t very good. xwOBA pegged him as a lucky below average hitter the entire time he’s been at the MLB level. He is a bench guy who should primarily face LHP.

Sorry, but I’ve been saying this for a long time now, and the fact folks now think “something is wrong” is a continuation of the denial.

I think I'd rather send Riley down til Sept so he can get regular at bats and bring up Demeritte. The idea being to have Demeritte be the super sub until Swanson is healthy, and let Culberson and Johan rotate.
