When did you give up on the season?

I think this is an appropriate thread after todays game.

For me it was when Strider came back and couldn't get it above 95. We needed to have another high end starter and it's obvious that isn't Stirder anymore.

I think you have to keep running Strider out there.. I think he will build up his velo.. but it has to be treated like a AAA game where results don't mater.. because results don't mater now. strict pitch counts for games and innings. no exceptions.. have him healthy and full offseason workouts for 2026

Sure.

I'm just very pessismistic about it. You either have the velocity or you don't. Maybe he can learn to be a better pitcher and be a quality starter but it's just such a huge downgrade from what he was.

I gave up last night. I was proven right today. There's no world that keeping sale, Murphy, and ozuna makes sense in now. Sale could be done again in any minute. Moving Murphy helps us with money and getting Drake out there 4/5 games. Moving ozuna get Acuna a full season of DH 2-3 times a week. Hell, it could help Riley and Olson by getting them off their feet every game.

I gave up early in 2021 and we came back. So I'll never say never. But damn..... this one hurt. The only move they make that will put a jolt into this team is to fire Snit.

I didn't hold a seance or anything, but I thought this year was going to be a bit of a slog. I didn't think it would be this bad, but I thought some guys would decline.

I haven't totally waved the white flag, but the team has shown no additional buzz with the return of Acuna and Strider and that's what everyone was banking on.

Didn't like it going in. There was no effort to replace Fried with a similar caliber, and the bullpen and bench were retreads. Didn't expect Arcia to play himself off the team. I was not thrilled with Profar to begin with. I felt like it was doing something for the sake of doing something. I did not expect Strider to perform up to this board's expectations. I have been surprised by RAJ. I don't think 30/90 is out of the question. I thought 85 wins were a good landing spot as long as we got some solid pen work. I felt it was a third-place roster when ST started, and that's where they will be in October, provided they don't sell off assets.

I’m a long way from giving up…. But I’m not as optimistic as usual.

Said differently, I’m not saying it’s time to jump ship….. but I’ve got my life jacket on.
