Where are you Sharpton, where are you Jesse Jackass?

I wasn't mocking Scott just making the point how blacks at the national level associated with a certain party are generally token. And how to this day professional black people are still regarded as inferior and referred to as much

I disagree strongly with Sowell's politics and not as strongly with West. Perhaps what others on the board mean about Reverand Al and Jackson is they , like West, enjoy the sound of their own voices. I don't read Christian perspective - I rely on Bedell's interpretations.
That is a compliment

Tim Scott is a black republican from South Carolina. White conservative southerners lined up and voted for a black man to represent them.

I know liberals like to use race whenever they can to attack a conservative but maybe, just maybe whites in SC don't see Scott as a black man but they see him as a conservative that they agree with

Not everything is about Race. Wish the left would understand tgat

I see Scott does a mean photobomb but what are his other qualifications? Oh and go ahead and tell me who you would want to see as our monarch?

Jesus.

I don't know that much about Scott, other than he is the first African-American to be elected as a Senator in the state of SC. And that's something I'm happy to celebrate.

Good.

Thanks for the compliment. Those are sharp guys with varying perspectives within a orthodox-Reformed Protestant perspective. I've found their takes on the the recent stories, though differing with each other, each helpful.

Fictional creature (to answer your last question)??

As for the others you may be right, but I don't see Al or Jesse as anything other than a charlatan. Just my opinion. I did already say that while Dr. Cornel West my be a bit far out for my personal tastes I do basically like him. Who knows maybe Jesse and Al were both sincere when they first started out, before the big money came along and they lost their way. To me though they both definitely have done that.

As for baseball cards, I thought you of all people would appreciate that possibility. :icon_biggrin:

DING DING DING!!!!

FOLKS WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Amen, but there are going to be a lot of people and a hell of a lot of Republicans who aren't going to like that nearly as much as they think they would if you were to ask them today, right?

I agree on Scott's being elected as a great step as long as he's qualified for the job, but I come from OK and we tend to elect the worst blithering morons on the planet as our US Senators, so I probably wouldn't recognize any positive skills in Scott if I did see any. :icon_biggrin:

Indeed. But the older I get the more I say, maranatha! Till He does, let's plug away, love others as ourselves and love Him!

I like what I know about Tim Scott (obvious political differences aside), though I admit to knowing little about him. He's low-key, principled, and seems honest from where I sit. He's an improvement over Jim DeMint, for sure.

As a South Carolinian, though, I find that his being feted as the first black southerner to be elected to the Senate since Reconstruction is a little bit silly. This is, in essence, a one-party state. He was an incumbent with an (R) by his name. It's a tad much for SC Rs to pat themselves on back for electing him.

Well if he's principled AND honest what in the heck is he doing in the US Senate?

Bedell, are you watching 'Revelation' on the History Channel right now? I would highly recommend it.

No sir. We've got a TV but we only use it to play movies. Not sure what the show's take was. I don't hold to the most popular interpretations on the book. I think it is a 7 cycle apocalyptic, recapitulating the history between the first and second advents of Christ, using different imagery with each cycle. And I'm an partial-preterist, a-mil guy. And so I don't square up neatly with most takes. Just call me an odd-ball.

I don't get why Sony would even be afraid of Sharpton? He's a piece of ****. I guess liberals shake in thier boots at the fear of Sharpton? More Proof that racism exists because of the left.

Be curious to know Huckabee, Newt, Santorum etal "sponsors" and if those donations too would be referred to as a "shakedown"

Or is that term reserved for thugs

////////////////////

Wasn't Chris Christie in Jerry Jones AT&T box today huggin' and muggin'
Wonder what he was shaking down. (That was a pun .)
Or, are those kinds of speculation reserved for cop haters and welfare queens

uh, what?

Yeah, I saw that too and started to say something, but I just didn't have it in me. I would really like to know what the conservatives on this board have to say about this, one way or the other I think ALL conservatives on this board should weigh on on this statement.

Show me the same sort of Sharpton-like details of those that you mention and I'll be happy to include them all right along with him. Why do we have a hard time just calling them what they are when they are on our "team"?
