Which Braves Player Were You Most Upset that we Traded/Didn't Sign?

Maddux. Not even close. Also hated to lose Klesko.

Sorry I thought it was just trades, yeah to Maddux, though.

I remember get blasted over at scout defending Maddux saying he was still our best pitcher over Ortiz, primarily by that Shanks fool over quality starts and wins, LOL. And he was, he wasn't even close to in his prime Maddux but he still was a quality pitcher, and continued to do so with the Cubs for years.

We should have had a Millwood Maddux combo at the top of the rotation, which would have been solid at the time.

I hated losing Maddux as well, particularly since he's my favorite player of all-time. It was bitter sweet watching him get his 300th win in a Cubs uniform. But, I knew that was coming since the 2002 off-season, so it was cushioned somewhat.

Glavine. He broke my heart. He was the chosen one that would never leave. Then next thing you know he signs with the Mets and says he wants to kill the streak.

You know what I miss most about Glavine. Those 2 inning starts where he gives up 10 runs and just throws BP to the other team. Especially the playoff ones.

Same here. I wouldn't have cared if the Braves paid him 50 million/year. I wanted him to stay with the Braves for the rest of his career.

I never equated it to the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth, I merely compared it. Learn the difference.

Also, not only is it the premise of this thread to discuss players you most hated giving up, but it has literally been 24 hours since we sent Heyward packing. You can't even kill a horse in that amount of time, let alone beat its corpse.

Do you think everyone should have stopped talking about 9/11 on 9/12?

So now you are equating/comparing this to 9/11? Geesh. (Just kidding)

I'm just rattling your cage man, take it easy. Sorry if I am on edge, I obviously don't post a lot but check in mostly to get news during hot stove/trade deadline time and read some interesting discussion and being the eternal optimist I am trying to look at the slim positive to this trade. I am sad to see Heyward go because I was a fan (have the original Jhey Kid shirt from Sportscrack, autos etc) but I am realistic also and just don't think he was going to be a Brave long term. I have felt this way for several years when rumblings about his sign-ability started and everyone started talking about his fondness of the Yankees.

I am more disappointed you didn't say Maddux given your handle and pic...

Well Glavine was great in the postseason upto 2000, then that was pretty much the norm.

And after his second half in 2002, it was time to move on.

But you know what's more moronic, JS tried and wanted to keep Glavime and sign him to a 3 year deal and let Maddux walk, when it was pretty obvious that Maddux was superior at that point in time.

But JS couldn't and wouldn't swallow his pride and negotiate with Boras after the AROD fiasco, and it cost us dearly with clients like Maddux, Sheffield, etc.

Good god only knows what might have happened with Andruw if he and his dad didn't approach and negotiate a deal with us over Boras, it might have ended Heyward style.

Giving up Justice and Grissom was probably the worst although Glavine was a close second. Klesko, Sheff, and Furcal really hurt also.

I was in the 9th grade when the Braves traded my 1st favorite player, Joe Torre, to the Cardinals for Orlando Cepeda.

Trading Brett Butler, Justice, Grissom, Dye off the top of my head (Braves change outfielders a lot, don't they).

On the flip side, however, I never 'miss' guys who sign elsewhere. I'm mad if the FO doesn't make an offer to a star player but if a fair deal is presented and the player walks anyway, I wash my hands of them and usually hope that success doesn't follow them! Glavine tops that list for me; he 'could' have stayed with the Braves but took a few dollars to go to the hated Mets. Players like that are dead to me.

Worst guy let go was definately Maddux.

I also wanted us to sign Holliday for LF, because at the time he was exactly what we needed.
