Which singular at-bat(s) from start to finish, have stuck with you over the years, and why? I'll go first. For me, it's Julio Franco and Chipper Jones

The 2002 NLDS was when I finally stopped believing in the idea of a "team of destiny." Man, I loved that team. Couldn't hit at all outside the core of Sheffield, Chipper and Andruw, but they could pitch the hell out of the ball, and they just kept winning all year. If the bats were silent, they'd throw a shutout. If the pitching struggled, the offense would have a rare great night. That group seemed blessed.

And then that freaking ninth inning against the Giants. Furcal and Franco get on base to lead it off, you have Sheffield-Chipper-Andruw due up, OK, it's going to happen again. Then Sheffield swings through the hangiest slider Robb Nen has ever thrown, and Chipper grounds into the season-ending double play. 23 years later and I still think about that inning.
I remember when Sheffield was in the process of bolting from Atlanta after the 2003 season, and after he went a combined 3 for 30 between the 2002 and 2003 playoffs, had the audacity to suggest something like the Braves don’t take the playoffs seriously enough.

Like, F you dude.

I liked Sheffield but all he had to say was that he was just chasing the money. There is nothing wrong with that. But a lot of guys used to try and make excuses on why they went to the highest bidder back then.

Also, this one. But wow, was there ever one hell of a come down off of it in the very next inning.... for some reason🥹🥹🥹

I was there. The single greatest and worst live moment I’ve witnessed.
I don't even think the roller coaster analogy would, or could, ever be enough for anyone who ever happened to be in the crowd that night.

I shit you not, when Swanson threw that last ball to Freeman to clinch the world series, my second most coherent thought, in that moment, was my brain doing the equivalent of finally exhaling in regards to my memory of that top of the ninth inning in 2010.
