Which Treason Weasel Will Be Elected Speaker?

McCarthy now begging like a dog. Not a good look. Go from the most renowned Speaker since Tip to a power-hungry petulant child. I can't help but laugh.

Yes not nearly as powerful as the previous dictator.

He had to make some concessions, give up some power. What a world true representative democracy is

It would be ironic and very fitting if McCarthy wins by someone voting "Present" and thus refusing to cast a ballot for him.

Your spin skills are impressive. Not much else is, but I will give you that.

What is the spin here

He gave up some major concessions to get his votes.

A week long debate that required give and take. Democracy in action.

Pelosi never would have stood for such a thing

Congrats to him. He stuck it out and did it. That's something. Now let's how long he lasts before he gets eaten alive.

Pelosi has negotiated for votes plenty of times. She just got it all sorted out BEFORE voting. Not sure what you think she could have done otherwise. How would she not stand for it?

We shall see what he gave up.

If he gave up the ability to stop a few radical insurrectionists from bringing govt to a screeching halt, then he gave up too much.

This was a fight worth having. Some great concessions here. Reminder that tyrant Pelosi ended the single vote removal rule that just got reinstated

Bra ****ing vo

That’s how it’s supposed to work. Anyone saying otherwise has zero critical thinking skills but we knew this already

Opinion: The deal McCarthy struck was an inexplicable act of self-destruction

Editor’s Note: Charlie Dent is a former Republican congressman from Pennsylvania who was chair of the House Ethics Committee from 2015 until 2017 and chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies from 2015 until 2018. He is a CNN political commentator. The views expressed in this commentary are his own.

"First, a bit of recent history is in order to explain the dynamics of the House Republican conference.

Anyone surprised by the dysfunction this week should not have been; the House GOP conference has been growing increasingly dysfunctional over the past 13 years. The chaotic machinations witnessed by the world this week are simply a continuation of the dysfunction that began after the Tea Party swept the House in 2010.

Former Speaker John Boehner and Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and later Speaker Paul Ryan, were all tormented by a rejectionist wing of their own party on simple matters of governance."

Whatever backroom deals McCarthy and Goetz made, I predict they don't last for very long. Both are liars and untrustworthy.

This thread lol

It’s like a spin zone after presidential debates

Praising that Republican **** show as a sign of a healthy democracy. Lol

What's the point of a removal vote if you don't have the votes to remove them. What it allows is one person to troll. A majority needed to call a removal vote makes sense since it takes a majority to actually remove the speaker.

Can you explain in your own words why representatives debating publicly and negotiating the balance of power from one person in the house is NOT good for a healthy democracy?

(This is the part where you don't answer)

He doesn't answer because you are asking him to justify an opinion he doesn't have. What it is a sign of is the dysfunction in the Republican party because every other speaker before this was able to get this stuff done BEFORE they started casting votes.

Or every other speaker never had to deal with a true divergent of opinions within the party and they were all just sucking at the teet of the corporate donors.
