Why Academics Leftists and Elitists Need to Treat Ordinary Americans With Respect

Are legumes such as lentils healthy foods?

Yes, legumes such as lentils are widely considered very healthy foods. They offer a powerful combination of nutrients, fiber, and plant-based protein, making them staples in many diets worldwide.

Health Impacts

  • Heart Health: Can lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • Blood Sugar Control: Help regulate glucose levels thanks to their fiber and low glycemic impact.
  • Weight Management: High satiety factor due to protein and fiber.
  • Gut Health: Promote a healthy microbiome via prebiotic fiber.

Can they be bought in bulk?

Absolutely — lentils are one of the easiest foods to buy in bulk, and doing so can be economical, convenient, and environmentally friendly.

✅ Where to Buy Lentils in Bulk

  1. Warehouse Clubs
    • Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s often sell large bags (5–25 lbs) of lentils.
  2. Health Food Stores / Co-ops
    • Stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts, or local natural grocers often have bulk bins for lentils (green, brown, red, French, black, etc.).
  3. Ethnic or International Markets
    • South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latin American grocery stores frequently carry bulk lentils at lower prices.
  4. Online Retailers
    • Amazon, Azure Standard, Nuts.com, and Bob’s Red Mill offer bulk lentils in 5 lb, 10 lb, or 25 lb bags.
    • Some even offer organic or sprouted options.
  5. Bulk Food Wholesalers
    • For very large quantities (25–50+ lbs), suppliers like WebstaurantStore or Restaurant Depot are options (especially for foodservice or prepping).

🟢 Storage Tips for Bulk Lentils

  • Shelf life: Up to 1 year or more if stored properly.
  • Storage: Use airtight containers in a cool, dark, dry place. Food-grade buckets or large jars work well.
  • Avoid moisture: It can cause mold or spoilage.

💡 Pro Tip:

Red lentils (split) cook faster but have a shorter shelf life than whole brown, green, or black lentils.

I've been always partial to the red ones (let me know if anyone needs a recipe). But I've had good versions of the brown and green ones.

A chacun son gout. Lentils are my favorite comfort food.

Cheap. Easy to buy in bulk. Easy to store. Easy to cook. And very healthy.

Why do people associate nazism with right wing politics when this is the norm of our elite, leftist institutions?

Because there’s a pretty vocal subsection of the American social conservative movement that flirts with open white supremacists and neo-Nazis. We should call out antisemitism wherever it’s found and alignments between social causes and the larger political movement change over time, but the reason the right is associated with Nazis is that’s where the Nazis generally congregated.

I see them congregating at elite universities and blue cities pretty much daily

How many neo Nazis are there ? Nationally?

1000?

2000?

500?

There’s that many antisemites at any given blue university

The world is changing. Businesses understand college degrees are meaningless compared to actual skills. The internet and GenAI make college completely archaic

Parents should re-frame their strategy to set up kids for success... and the public should stop funding endless university degrees that screw over young people to the benefit of activist professors and useless administrators

Markets are generally the most efficient method for allocating resources. But they are not perfect and by now there is a pretty good understanding of when they work well and when they don't. And what to do when they don't work so well.

With regards to Mamdami I like some of his ideas (free buses) and think others are likely to fail (city-owned grocery stores).

With respect to free buses the first thing to note is that we all understand they are not free. It is a figure of speech. Making them free does have some strong benefits. Reduced administrative costs, higher ridership and most importantly reductions in two very big externalities (pollution and congestion associated with private transportation).

His grocery store idea is going to run up against some hard realities. One being that it is a low margin business. Another being it is a complicated intricate business that requires specialized knowledge. At a minimum I hope he hires some people who know how to run such a business. I have some doubts. There is a real problem of food deserts in certain urban markets. A better idea is to work with the private sector to address this problem. Provide incentives for privately owned companies to fill the gaps in those neighborhoods. Leverage the power of markets and capitalism. Markets do work reasonably well. Most of the time.
