No, I agree with you that the left sensationalized and excused a lot of poor or criminal behavior in a way that was also wrong. But I do disagree with you on the basis of his deportation to CECOT specifically. There were plenty of reasons to deport him, but I do believe that the poorly documented gang assessment they were using led to him being illicitly sent somewhere that the facts of his case did not dictate. We can’t and shouldn’t send people to foreign prisons for suspected gang activity, even if they should be deported.

The upper class have the Scandinavian au pair. It IS a class thang to some extent. For the rich, a visa program for au pairs with the right complexion. Under the guise of "cultural exchange."

Now craft a reasonable immigration policy that attempts to square the need for border control and allowing illegal immigrants en masse to change our diapers.

I don’t disagree with the assertion that Maryland Dad’s case was poorly handled. But even in the fumble, it highlighted the reason why Democrats are under water on immigration (while Republicans aren’t).

You said previously that you want high quality immigrants here that don’t commit crimes. But even when they do commit crimes (including the one of crossing the border illegally), Democrats won’t answer for what should be done. We can’t send him to a foreign gulag. Sure - I agree with that. But we also can’t send him to any country on his list. We can’t send him to countries not on his list because it’s inhumane to separate a father from his family. Also border enforcement is run by fascists and they put children in cages.

Instead of offering solutions to messy problems, Democrats complain about process.

Yeah, realistically you and I are just on opposite ends of the middle on immigration for most aspects. On a personal level, I’d like to see as many people let in to this country to escape from abject poverty as possible. On a practical level, I understand you can’t have completely open borders and I do believe in personal accountability enough to accept deportation as a consequence to one’s actions, whether it’s criminal or lack of productivity within our society. My values on immigration align much more closely with the left than the modern right, but I don’t think either side has it right.

As for complaints on process, I agree there will be complaints and cries about any number of things, but I personally object more to the Trump Administration’s strategy of just finding the most insane and frankly kind of evil processes possible. It’s harder to question the Dems for complaining when they’re just selling people to Gulags and/or sending them to war-torn African nations because they have a quota to meet.

Deported him to a country other than El Salvador unless any new details in his case allowed for a court to disregard the previous order restricting his deportation to El Salvador, and work on some sort of mutually beneficial agreement between us and a Central American or South American country to take in these deportees.

If I were a God-Emperor, I’d waive his deportation restriction and send him back to El Salvador.
