Why Do Liberals Hate 'American Sniper'?

The President doesn't have constitutional authority to declare war. Only congress

LOL!!

The last two presidents laughed at that. The Constitution is and was abused and will forever will be. If you are a Trekkie, it is like the Prime Directive, you skirt it to get what you need (Kirk, Sisco, Janeway, Archer all done it)

Be prepared to have Sturg dazzle with you his strict interpretation of the constitution, which isn't archetypal at all.

Well don't expect me to instruct anyone on the finer points of this, after all I've only taught political science (American Government to be exact) for the past 15+ years now, but if I were to drop a hint on the actual specific legal details of y'all's argument I'd say check out the War Powers Act of 1973. This was Congress' attempts to reign back in the executive branch's love of "taking the military out for a spin every so often". Once you actually look at the detail of this legislation, ie the 3 main ways in which the president CAN use the military maybe it'll help straighten things out.

Heaven forbid we have a more thoughtful approach to exercising our military. What we've been doing has been working so well

Our military is the greatest in the world and at the end of the day that's the most important thing.

So, might makes right?[/QUOTE

You have no choice. Morals and ethics dont win wars or battles.

Oh, you were talking about after the decision is made to go to war. I probably wouldn't go as far as you on this, but I do agree that once a war is rolling your choices are somewhat limited, which is why you should never go into one unless you have to, not because of sh*t you know isn't there, but claim is there, not because of daddy issues, not because the MIC tells you to, and so on. Every effort should be made to keep the civilian casualty rate down, but the fact of the matter is war is hell (and messy).
