Will Touki Get the Call?

It's instructive to look at Teheran's stat line in all its glory:

4.48 ERA
5.32 FIP

8.2 k/9 -- has ticked up considerably as season progressed.
4.55 BB/9 -- ditto

.230 BABIP (pretty absurdly low)

-.1 fWAR
.3 bWar

Whew.

The results have been replacement level and he's been very lucky, even in the context of his consistently over performing his peripherals.

Velocity has been up and down, but seems have to have hit a run where he was sustaining 91 after having a few different dips into the 80s during the season.

.......

Not clear to me how this guy is guaranteed a rotation spot. Even with the money owed, something in long relief maybe makes more sense if we are assuming he has no trade value now and no trade value if he relatively rebounds in a few April/May starts.

I have no idea why Julio's walk rate has really declined as it is.

As for Kyle Wright, as soon as he figures out his stamina issues, he becomes a legitimate option. That could be 2 weeks from now or it may not be until the end of 2019. That's what I've been seeing and people have been talking about. Even in meh-ish starts, Wright will usually start out fine enough, and becomes gassed earlier than he should. I'm hoping he is better stamina wise next year.

Sounds like he could be a reliever down the stretch if needed though.

Don't count out a trade either. Still some depth options available that will make it through waivers.
