Winter Meetings Thread

I kind of hope we just stand pat. I dont want to give up any big time prospects or give up any draft picks. I think we have a well rounded team. I would still like to add Chapman to the pen but I know that aint happening.

I'd rather stand pat too and just add a couple of bullpen arms. But if we are giving up a package with Albies and Newcomb in it I'd rather go after Arenado than Sale.

My guess at what a Sale trade would look like if it happens is Sale for Folty/Albies/Wisler/Ruiz/Jenkins/Davidson. I know the WAR police will say thats not enough to trade for Sale's jock strap but thats my guess. Teams put a premium on ML ready talent.

Knowing that trade Sale feels discomfort in his elbow in the 5th start after going 4-0 with a 1.86 ERA his first four starts.

Adding Garcia has put us in the position where we do not need to make a trade for another SP. I think we still coud as I beleive Folty is expendable, but you never go in to negotiations with a need. You could be exploited.

Adding Rodriguez gives us the option of standing pat and having insurance at 3B. It also allows us to possibly trade Albies if we desire as his best position is 2B. I think we wil look in to a long term 3B to bridge the gap to Maitan as Ruiz is a part time player and Riley has some question marks. This move allows us to have a want rather than a need though.

If we've learned anything, it's that Copo and his bird dogs are looking in places none of us can imagine. My gut feeling is that their next deal will be one that hasn't even been speculated upon here.

One thing we know is if Coppy adds another starter it will be an ace. Only way for it to really make sense is if they get Frazier back with Sale or Longoria back with Archer.

Unless it's Archer/Longo, or just for Longo, I don't make a yuge trade. Stand pat and see what we have. I'm already excited to watch the team. Getting a few more bullpen arms is fine, even a few more upgrades -- but don't jump the gun. And if we trade Max Fried or Ronald Acuna, I will be so damn pissed.

I think we need to give it one more season honestly and see what we have with these guys. Bc Newcomb or Folty could turn into an ace and we wouldn't need Sale. We definitely don't need to empty the farm this early for anybody.

I'd agree with this.

I think the team is being underrated right now. From August moving forward the Braves lost 8 games when scoring 5 or more runs. THe starting pitching was the only weak spot for the team that finished last season. They could ahve played .600 ball last year with the current starting rotation.

Unless the price comes down for Sale I'm also willing to wait till next season.

Im guessing the first non Cespedes shoe to drop is Melancon.

Sounds like hes close to signing, either Giants or Nats.

Not against a Sale or Archer, but Braves arent quite near contending yet.

And next years FA class is miles better than this one.

I agree we should focus on Sale and Archer. If not them then maybe take a flyer on a guy like Tyson Ross. But then let the young guys develop

I have a feeling SRod was signed to platoon with Garcia at 3b vs RHers, and with Jace at 2b vs LHers. That means he would be on pace to get 400 PAs at 3b and 200 PAs at 2b if he did that all year. Once Albies is ready to come up, SRod will shift over to 3b full time.

I would like to see the Braves take a look at Wellington Castillo and a RHed hitting 4th OFer like Rajai Davis, Justin Ruggiano, or Desmond Jennings. Mallex back to AAA assuming neither he or Ender are traded.

I think the Braves are still going to give Garcia a long look in attempt to capitalize on any value. Its unlikely but if he improves his ability to get on base then he becomes an attractive chip for an AL team.

I see SRod getting all PA's against LHP at second and maybe another 20-30 starts are third.

How many looks do they need at Garcia? He's going into his age 32 season and posted another terrible .262/.293/.407 line vs RHers in 2017. He has shown to be a potentially viable option vs LHers with his .310/.357/.472 line against them.

If the Braves don't know exactly what they have with a 32 year old Adonis Garcia after giving him 761 PAs over 2 seasons, they haven't been watching. They shouldn't need to see anything more. Then again, they shouldn't have needed to see any more after 2015 either, so who knows why they can't figure out that Garcia is nothing more than a limited role player.

I still think we should be in on Greg Holland

From your mouth to...

Unfortunately I don't see the Braves going where they need to to get him. I do know he was excited when Borass told him they were poking around earlier though.
