And we have have avenues to replace him so he is very valuable and we can likely be fine with out him. Can't make significant upgrades without giving up big talent. We have no clue if Albies will ever succeed.

Hope he does... but we know Sale is a superstar.

What avenues are that? TD who isn't even a top 100 prospect? Stick with Jace? Sale is a superstar but this team needs more then that to be good. If Folty happens to be in the deal then Sale would take this team from being a high 70's win team to an 80 win team on paper. And that's assuming no other major league talent is going back. Is that really worth a top 10 prospect plus whatever else goes with him?

It would be different if the Braves already had a competent 2B at the major league level and were projected to be a high 80's win team and Sale would push them over the edge to being truly dominate. But that is not the Braves position right now.

No idea. Currently #60 overall on mlb pipeline and 2nd highest pitcher for the Braves.

Yup. My untouchable list for the braves organization is Freeman/swanson/Maitan/Allard. A few are close but thats the foursome I don't want moved in any scenario outside of trout.

Love the Lindgren signing.

For all of the weird stuff the FO does, they do stuff like this that's so smart.

What Arizona did (at least so far) was worse because they did BOTH. They signed Greinke to a crazy contract that they will be unable to move, even IF he remains good (or at a minimum it will diminish his return value severely) AND they traded a ton of young talent for Miller. They jumped the gun on their rebuild and I think a very good argument could be made that they were significantly better off than the Braves are now.

If the Braves could get Sale for something like Wisler, Blair, Mallex, Demeritte and Ruiz then maybe you pull the trigger. But the Chisox aren't going to move him for that.

I don't think the Diamondbacks were really that wrong about their team so much as they had injuries and numerous players did not perform to their career expectations. IF they'd gotten what they expected, they very well could have been a playoff team.

I thought their offseason was more reasonable than what the Padres attempted to do -- now that never really made much sense to me.

Trading all that stuff for Shelby Miller was kind of dumb though. I don't think you put that together for someone so unproven, though in the end I'm not sure the package they parted with would have been unreasonable for someone proven.

I think you would consider moving Allard because he is still at Rome, he has the back issue, he doesn't have the preferred frame for a starter, and you are getting something really good and proven with many years of control.

There is no question that Chris Sale or Chris Archer is more valuable than Allard. It's very likely either could be traded at any time for a prospect at least as good as Allard over the next three to five years.

Of course the question is the full package that would be given up, but I think a kid in A ball has to be pretty much perfect to be considered untouchable.

I haven't seen the questions marks on his frame. I'm thinking that 6'1 180 lbs is pretty good for a 19 year old left hander.

I just think some guys you have to wait a little to trade them. I feel like we would be selling real low on Allard. He was dominant last year and finish the year at his best in the playoffs. You give him another year and he finishes in AA then he is the absolute headliner in a package and not the third piece.

My prediction on the deal:

Braves get: Sale, Shields
Chisox get: Inciarte, Folty, Teheran, Albies

Braves rotation: Sale, Shields, Garcia, Dickey, Colon
Mallex plays CF
Jace/Demeritte future at 2B

Not saying I like it; just saying it's a middle of the road type compromise between today and the future that the FO seems to like.

The fact that he's in A ball and already ranked #60 bodes very well for him. Another strong year and his ranking rockets and his value is more than doubled.

I will very ticked if that was the case. Terrible trade.

Of course that won't happen. In no world would we ever trade Teheran, Inciarte, Folty, and Albies for Sale. That's crazy talk

There no way that happens

As I said, I wouldn't do it and I don't like it. I think trading for Sale now is a huge misstep under ANY likely circumstances.

BUT, the FO didn't sign Colon and Dickey for them NOT to be in the rotation. The didn't trade for Garcia to NOT be in the rotation. So, in ANY trade for Sale, I think it's easy to see at least one of Teheran or Folty going in the other direction. And, since the Chisox are rebuilding, I can see them wanting to shed Shields cost. So, I could see the Chisox package Sale and Shields together which would open the door for the Braves to package Teheran and Folty together. Then it falls to deciding who the other two from the Braves would be. I would expect the Braves to WANT to move Mallex but the Sox to hold out for Inciarte. And, I can't see ANY deal where the Sox don't get Albies.

The deal you just illustrated would be one they don't get Albies. Even if it's a mistep to trade for Sale I don't believe our FO are morons. That deal would make them morons.

Shields is negative value in the overall trade. They would love nothing more then to clear him. Teheran, Folty, Inciarte, Albies would never happen for just Sale. Then if you add Shields then the White Sox are going to get less back for Sale

I would offer Ender OR Albies and they can have Jace/Mallex/ Demeritte depending on which of the first two they elect. I'd toss in Wisler or Blair, Newcomb, one of Soroka or Riley. Trading 2 of Ender/Albies/Folty would be too counter productive.

I forgot, if they aren't a top 100 prospect they have no chance. I think TD will be a top 100 prospect at some point soon. We also have other platoon options that can provide very good defense with 800+ OPS potential

Jace and Rodriguez are a very potent platoon
