Winter Meetings Thread

What avenues are that? TD who isn't even a top 100 prospect? Stick with Jace? Sale is a superstar but this team needs more then that to be good. If Folty happens to be in the deal then Sale would take this team from being a high 70's win team to an 80 win team on paper. And that's assuming no other major league talent is going back. Is that really worth a top 10 prospect plus whatever else goes with him?

It would be different if the Braves already had a competent 2B at the major league level and were projected to be a high 80's win team and Sale would push them over the edge to being truly dominate. But that is not the Braves position right now.

Sale over Folty is more of an upgrade than your estimates suggest.

My prediction on the deal:

Braves get: Sale, Shields

Chisox get: Inciarte, Folty, Teheran, Albies

Braves rotation: Sale, Shields, Garcia, Dickey, Colon

Mallex plays CF

Jace/Demeritte future at 2B

Not saying I like it; just saying it's a middle of the road type compromise between today and the future that the FO seems to like.
Eww, eww. Horrible deal for us.

3/5 of our starting rotation would be on one-year deals and another guy would be on a 2-year deal.

I forgot, if they aren't a top 100 prospect they have no chance. I think TD will be a top 100 prospect at some point soon. We also have other platoon options that can provide very good defense with 800+ OPS potential

Thier chance is a lot less than what Albies currently is who would be up by the end of the year. And I doubt we have any kind of platoon situation that's going to post an 800 OPS anytime soon. Any move to trade Albies is very short sighted when our team this year isn't very good. Giving up future assets for a win now move is not what rebuilding teams should do.

A Jace/Rodriguez platoon has a legit a believable shot at an 800+ OPS with solid defense. Whether you choose to believe it or not. Hopefully TD will keep making strides and we have plenty of other MI prospects that could be ready in a couple years. Do you honestly think Albies won't struggle his first season in the majors?? He surely did in AAA. Rod/Jace is likely a big upgrade over what Albies can do his first year. That's just probabilities.

Oh, don't stop there. I think they could make it up to a 1.300+ OPS if you add their OPSs together!

As per my remarks about not wanting Frazier and comparing him to Uggla, Frazier is more athletic than Uggla but that's about it. Worse offensive statistical profile even after a number of years in a more hitter-friendly park. Plus, under contract for one year.

#Whitesox indeed want Swanson for Sale. #Braves have said no shot, but would consider Albies in a big deal.

Rodriguez post well over 800 just last year after making adjustments. May not be likely
But silly to discount. Especially with how well Jace hits as a lefty

I love Albies but have no problem using him to get Sale or Archer

Yes we still don't know if Albies can play in the majors. I love the guy don't get me wrong but if we can get Sale or Archer I'd do it in a heard beat

Looking at the Rays they have zero LHP in there top 20 prospects. We have five. Maybe we can match up with them on that.

Interesting observation. Let's start with Newcomb Albies Wisler/Blair Dustin Peterson and Allard for Archer and Longo... we can even throw Adonis in ;)

Swanson is as untouchable as it gets. The Sox have to ask for him though.

I think Coppy is doing what he does well. Being open with other GM's who he wants and who is available as well as reading the market. So far you haven't heard of any other teams that have been willing to step up their offer. YOu've only heard leaks about the Braves offer which is clearly an attempt by the Sox to get other teams to the table. I think Coppy believes he has the best offer out there and will wait on the Sox to make a decision.

I agree thethe. Coppy isn't gonna keep adding to his package. He has one set package and hopefully isn't gonna budge. If we get beat we just do but unless the Red Sox step up with Moncada it isn't gonna happen.
