Winter Meetings Thread

I look forward to all the unreasonably outlandish scenarios that folks around here propose that gets Machado in a Braves uniform haha.

It will be like the Sale, Greinke, Price and Holliday derp-fests rolled into one!! Fun times ahead!!

Are you always this miserable, why do you even post here if you hate everything the team does?

Hart saying what needs to be said. I'm still not 100% sold they won't trade for another starter, but this makes me feel a bit better.

“Because we have the new ballpark coming and because our ballclub played so well offensively at the end of the year, and because our bullpen is showing the makings of something that can be good, we (think we) can compete,” Hart said. “That was our take on what we’ve done, that we have a chance now to compete. But this step is one I think that deviates from (the rebuilding plan). If you go jump that one guy, does that guy take us to where we now become the team to beat? I don’t think so. Does it make us better and give us a better chance to compete? Absolutely. But at what price?

“Does it deviate so far from our plan that we have in place to move that bulk and magnitude of young players to acquire it? I just don’t think it works for us right now.”

Hard to argue with anything that's been done since this front office took back full control and honestly since Hart came aboard a year earlier. We are run real well right now and there so many reasons to think our future is as bright as any teams outside of the cubs.

Work on your reading comprehension. My

Statement wasn't about anything the team did, or didn't do.

Reread what I wrote and try again to comprehend what it meant. You can do better than that. It was written at a 5th grade level so you could understand it.

From same article:

“We’re probably never a club that’s going to go out and compete for that No. 1 guy out there, at least not in the near term. And we’ve taken these pitchers (on one-year deals) because we feel that we’ve got guys with that kind of upside out there, that are quality, quality, bright young prospects. Other people view it the same way – for us to get that kind of a guy, to play in that market to where we don’t have to go get the free agent, we can get that (ace) under contract for a shorter term, it’s going to be painful. It’s a painful deal. And our appetite hasn’t been whetted enough yet.”

This is ultimately good for the Braves. Nats putting all their eggs in the two year Harper window.

The Nats rotation is the best in baseball and maybe the best we have seen since the Philly roto of Lee/Halladay/Hamels/Oswalt

Overpay by the gnats if it is indeed Robles and Giolito. Glad that we didn't try to top that. Would have been insanity on our part.

That's probably the equivalent to Swanson (top 5; Giolito) and Albies (top 15; Robles). No chance on that one.
