Winter Meetings Thread

Looks like they are hot on the trail of Feliz and Zeigler as well.

They need to shore up their position players, but not a ton of weaknesses with this roster.

The problem with the position players is they have to hope Zimmerman rebounds. The other spots are set in stone outside of CF. They don't "have" to upgrade the offense from last year, but that hurts them a bit. Unless they get a stud CF or are willing to replace Werth/ZIm, there is only so much they can upgrade on offense.

Thats why I think they should really attack CF, but doesn't appear to be their plan.

When was the last time Zimmerman was a healthy contributor? 2013? Can say the same about Werth though I guess he was fine last year all things considered.

Not sure about the C spot either. Norris is a clear downgrade from 2015 Wilson Ramos (especially offensively). Full year of Turner helps and Harper should rebound which helps offset those weakness. I agree with you CF should be a focus area.

I know we'd all like to see the Braves get Sale or another ace but we don't need to give up 4 top flight prospects like Albies, Newcomb, Allard, Folty or whoever else. Those guys could turn into Sale for all we know. We really need one more minor league season to see where we stand. Next offseason it shouldn't cost as much to trade for somebody when the FA market is a lot better. We need one more season before we start trading prospects for big leaguers.

Pirates asked for Robles/Giolito for Cutch lol they arent giving him away.

Do you know who Joe Ross is? He more valuable than Folty, and probably approaching Teheran in trade value. Getting him for Cutch would be far from "giving him away" lmao

Joe Ross is good but hes not close to Julio in trade value.

Maybe not give away but they'd need alot more.

We need to sign Castillo... he's the perfect fit until we can develop our own catcher in a few years. He's a no brained IMO. I worry we get Weiters if we miss out on Castillo.

Joe Ross as valuable as Teheran... lmao. May be more than Folty but not for long

Ok dum dum, here's how you break down and value players.

Ross is projected to be worth 2 WAR next year. He has 5 years of club control remaining, and is making league minimum now. Over those 5 seasons he projects for about 10-12 WAR at a cost of about $20m. That comes to about $60m-$70m in surplus value.

Teheran is controlled for 3 years at $31m. He projects to produce about 10-12 WAR over that time. That comes out to a surplus value of $50m-$60m.

So Ross might actually be considered a more valuable trade piece than Julio already.he is certainly already "approaching" Julio's value, which is what I stated. I'm sure you can't grasp how this all works, but teams evaluate player values in a manner very close to that.

Anyways, back to your usual derpy posting you go. And go ahead and change that signature when you get the chance sunshine.

I agree. I honestly wouldn't trade him for Cutch, and neither would half the board if he was on our team.

There's no point in getting into it with you....I like dum dums though. The butterscotch..great!

You can either educate yourself about how MLB teams value players, or you can continue to derp along with the rest of the dum dums on this board.

I started saying dum dum because I just watched Night at the Museum haha

Interesting thought experiment. Let's say Newcomb, Blair and Wisler had progressed enough last year that they were in the rotation with Julio and Folty right now. My theory is that if that had happened, the Braves would not have settled for Kemp, and would be in the market for an impact bat in LF.

Knowing the Pirates are in need of MLB ready controllable pitching, what would the Braves have given up to get Cutch in LF?

Nothing, they would be smart enough to try for Eaton and have a ridiculous outfield with Ender and Eaton.

I know more about the prospects than most on this board. I choose to watch Rome, Carolina, Gwinnett and until this year the rookie leagues. I prefer to derp with the other dum dums when it comes to the major league team.

That being said, you throw random good stuff in with random alien thoughts. I'll not choose to put a name on you though. I try not bring my tough guy out from my keyboard. Good stuff.
