Woman's March

The authors found that workers in riskier occupations, while less educated than those in safe occupations, were paid relatively well. After controlling for education and other demographics, workers in risky occupations made $5,000 more per year compared with workers with similar education and demographic characteristics.

That's one link off the St Louis Fed (which is trying to answer a different question but so be it). I'd be interested in seeing the economic literature that suggests what you're arguing, that riskier jobs don't pay more, all things being equal.

I'm not saying they don't pay more in the sense that they are better paying than some other jobs. I'm saying they're not high paying gigs. Again the jobs with the most risks don't make above median or mean income. Add in that fishing and logging are 2 huge demand jobs as well.

Jobs that have fewer qualified people doing them (engineers) will get paid more than jobs that have an abundance of qualified people doing them (teachers). This is so elementary

There's much more demand for teachers and with a bit more spending in education we would have the actual number of teachers we need increasing demand again. IIRC there are few jobs that really require a college degree that pay less than teaching.

It's funny because I'm dating a pretty hard-core feminist... We have some fun arguments. But she tends to argue with emotion rather than reality.

As long as you keep in mind that women often do lots of other things (both good and bad) that are emotion driven as well. Just something to think about.

I heard an interesting way of looking at history. Start with the last event or the one that caught your attention and work backwards.
As in, suppose I was against the Braves move to Cobb County. I would start with what happened in the year 2016 then see what happened in 2015 -2014 etc etc

You get the point

I wonder why this march wasn't done 10 years ago or 6 years ago or even 2 years ago. The issues women have been going on for many years, not for two months but they conveniently did it now?

No, I dont get it.

Really just curious more than anything, but what is the deal with these anarchists? What do they get out of this besides just running around destroying ****? They claim it is wrong to listen to a Neo Nazi gay dude so instead they are going to beat the crap out of innocent people. Is that the gist of their movement?
