David Price, JD Martinez, Rick Porcello, Pablo Sandoval. Thats 4 making 19 million or more a year.

And only one of those fits the category of player you were talking about. 19 million isn't a huge salary in 2018. Maybe for the cheap ass Braves but not the rest of baseball.

Price and Porcello are okay. JD Martinez is a beast obviously. But the Red Sox are winning because they did a phenomenal job of growing superstars and making smart, well timed trades. Saying they bought this world series like some Yankee teams of the past is ridiculous.

If the Braves should have a roadmap they should be following, the path taken by the Red Sox and the Astros would be a great one to go with. Obviously we don't have the payroll that they do, but we can still build a similar contention window, we'll just have to lean a little more on our internal assets rather than being able to rely on acquiring as many external assets.

same roadmap but less room for error...cant screw up like the Red Sox did with Sandoval

Everything the Red Sox have done is facilitated by their payroll flexibility in majors, minors, international free agency and July signings.

Same goes with the Yankees.

The Sox have stripped their system but they will have a competitive advantage in coming back from it.
