Worried?

Is this is a lull in a long season or is this season falling apart? Where's your confidence level right now?

The season is over. The Braves had their shot but refused to make the moves needed to improve the team. They will spend the rest of the year slipping further and further away from contention.

not worried, I am not one who thinks it is important to get to the playoffs this year. I want more to see what some of the young pitching has so that we can plan forward

We were what, 11-12 games over .500 3 weeks ago? Yeah, I'm putting more weight into the first 3 months than this past month. We'll be fine. Everyone is in slump right now, even the starting pitchers. And people forget we have reinforcements on the way both in the way of prospects and probably trades.

I think we are a 500 team. So worried we won’t make the playoffs.

Phillies aren’t that good either but they keep going

the lull was always going to happen...the question to me has always been whether the team has a surge left in it...I don't have an answer...I do think the team has banked enough wins and is in a good enough position that the front office has to try to make some low cost moves to shore up some weaknesses

trading for Venters checked off one box

trading for someone to strengthen the left side of the infield would check off another

we also have some internal resources to shore up the pen...I would bring up Phillips to replace Jackson fairly soon...and in coming weeks look to bring up Gohara or Touki...I would keep one of the two stretched out in AAA in case there is an opening in the major league rotation

When Camargo leads the team with 29 RBIs since June 1st, that's a starting point for worry. With Flaherty, Jackson, Moylan stil on team and Sam Freeman still being abused along with Venters on Snits list to abuse, this team is in trouble. Bigger concern should be Snitckers and Hernandez still in control on the field.

I'm not confident we turn this around at all, but I do think we can. These 8 games (dodgers, marlins x3, and at Mets x4) are vital. Got to win 5 (really need 6)

I like camargo, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a guy like Beltre come in. Someone needs to light a fire under some asses. We’ve drug our asses on the carpet long enough now that getting a venters, solarte, avilan isn’t going to cut it.

La Camargue is the only guy providing any sort of spark at the moment. Did anyone else see him pumping up Acuna in the dugout last night. The kid is not a veteran but he is showing some laidership. Gerald would be proud.

Meh, I'm not worried because I have other things to worry about. But, I'm hoping we make a few moves to at least show we're attempting to make the team better.

Not worried. We may not make the playoffs, but I certainly didn’t think we’d be in the mix anyway. I think we’ve got a streak left in the tank (paging Freddie Freeman), and I think some callups and inexpensive acquisitions will help.

I like our pitching depth...some of the teams we are battling for a playoff spot are gonna stumble because they're gonna run out of arms...happens every year

before the seasons over someone like Gohara or Touki is gonna step up and win some big games for us

I think you could look at it like this. We've gone through our worst stretch and we're still right there in the playoff hunt. Chances are pretty good that we'll turn it around a bit soon.

I’m worried that AA waited too long to capitalize on an unsustainable run of winning. The Braves obviously aren’t a 95 win team, but an 80 win team that goes on an extended good run like the Braves did can sneak into the playoffs if a few smart additions make them just good enough to hold off the competition. That didn’t happen, or at least they didn’t happen in time to avoid playing catch up.

I’m more worried that the pitching hasn’t taken a clear step forward. The Braves invested the bulk of their player acquisition assets into pitching for 3-4 years, and they still don’t have a proven foundation of a playoff caliber rotation. That is a serious problem, and getting someone like Archer isn’t going to fix it.

I believe the braves need one front end starter from outside to cover the gap between now and the arrival of their young group of four: Soroka, Anderson, Wright, touissant.

I’d use fried, gohara, allard, Sims, wisler, plus others to get a front end starter, shore up pen, and the bench.

And I think you will have opened the window for an extended period without having given up the future.
