Yahoo Sources: Braves Offer John Hart Full-Time GM Job

Was Hart the Indians GM when we traded Grissom and Justice for Lofton.... and then Lofton went and re-sign ed with the Indians a year later?

Am I the only one who isn't a fan of Hart getting the job? I like the guy, and am cool with him being involved in some capacity, but I feel like he's already had his time. And I really dont think he was that great of a GM when he was. Get some new blood in there.

Im not a big fan. He's an ok GM. But, he's had his time and that fire is gone. He's riding off to the sunset. If he really wanted to do the job, he would have accepted by now.

Same here about not wanting Hart to get it fulltime.

If it's 1-2 years to get Coppy ready I can somewhat understand but I'd rather just throw Coppy into the fire now since he's been assistant GM as long as Wren was to JS.

burn the whole front office down

Get rid of Bobby and JS.

to offer Hart the full time job is ****ing absurd. sickening

Why does it seem like this organization is run like a "good old boys" club??? Get some new blood in here to bring some fresh perspective and philosophy. You've got JS, JH and BC running the search, but who is involved to provide a devil's advocate to these guys?

THIS

Plus he's obviously JS and BC guy, so nothing would change, meaning Fredi is staying.

Guys, if the Braves give Hart the job, they are essentially giving it to Coppolella. John C is going to have a huge influence on personnel moves. And he likely takes over in a couple years or so.

I wouldn't concentrate so much on Hart, but on whether or not you want John C. to be the guy.

Hart is going to have his say with this team going forward whether we make him GM or not. So the influence is going to be there no matter what.

Hart is a good GM and would be a perfect person to groom John C. into the job.

Im fine with Hart taking the job then handing it over to John C within the next few years. Make sure that he is taught how to build the farm system because he learned how to not build the farm under Wren. IMO Hart is an ideal candidate for a short term solution

I think the blame on Wren for the farm is harsh. Since Wren took over we've had 6 drafts with a potential to have major league players.

2008, Spruill, Kimbrel, Clemens, Oberholtzer, and Hoover
2009, Minor and Hale
2010, Cunningham, Simmons, Gosselin, Terds, Schreve, and Gattis
2011, Ahmed, La Stella, and Schlosser. With guys coming along who can make their debut shortly, like Gilmartin, Kubitza, Graham,
2012, Wood and Simmons, and guys in A+ or higher, Sims, Brown, Elander, Peterson, Hyatt, Wilson, Tewell, Moses, and a few others.
2013, none in the majors yet, Hursh and Wren in AA.

If the "farm" was so strong before lets compare the 6 drafts prior to that.

2007, Heyward, Freeman, Hicks, Gearrin
2006, Rasmus, Locke, Medlen, Heath
2005, Devine, Escobar, Schafer, Chapman, Hanson, Flowers
2004, Parr, Sammons
2003, Atilano, Salty, Jojo Reyes, Harrison, Romak, White, Brandon Jones, Jonny Venters
2002, Francoeur, Meyer, McCann, Morton, James

Aside from the few stars (McCann, Heyward, Freeman) is there really a massive difference? Minor and Wood are every bit as good if not better than Medlen and Hanson who're the only pitchers of any worth taken in those 6 years. I could make a solid point that the draft was just as strong, and the draft and follows was an option back then.

It's not like this organization needs some older guy with credibility to help Copp with the transition. If that's what they want, JS is still around the team. He's not much older than Hart.

You know, I'm just incredibly disheartened by this season and month, Hart is fine, Coppalella is fine, whatever.

All I'm really doing on this page is checking out Zito's avatar.

Hart's going to be around anyway though.

I've heard Coppy interviewed a number of times in the past and he seems the best candidate thus far mentioned available. But he would also most likely fire Fredi so...

If Cox , JS, and Hart fired Wren because he was on the verge of firing Fredi then why would they promote Coppy if he's ready to can Fredi?
