Young Pitching Talent in the NL East

Good thing the Marlins and Mets are both run by idiots. Obviously Harvey is great, but I dont think any great team is gonna have Wheeler as it's 2nd or 3rd best pitcher, I'm not a big fan of his. I think he'll be lucky to have a mid 3's ERA. There rotation will be solid, but not best in the division level. That rotation can't compete with Zimmermann/Stras/Gio/Fister/Detwiler or Teheran/Minor/Medlen/Beachy/Wood. Marlins aren't all that strong outside of Fernandez.

The young starting pitcher to watch out for in the NL East is Lucas Giolito.

I think you're badly underselling the Marlins rotation behind Fernandez. Turner and Eovaldi are studs in the making IMO. I think they've got tremendous potential to have a great big three.

Plus Heaney, who probably needs half a season in AAA. And Henderson Alvarez ain't too shabby.

The Mets also have a strong group that goes well beyond Harvey, Wheeler and Syndergaard.

I don't see the Marlins or Mets matching the everyday lineups of the Braves and Gnats anytime soon. But as far as pitching goes they are going to be very good.

Neither are all that impressive to me. Eovaldi really should be a reliever as he has no secondary stuff to speak of and doesnt even strike many guys out despite his velocity. Turner has talent, but where would his talent rank in the division? 15? Probably lower

Eovaldi and Turner don't strikeout as many guys as you would like, but I think with their stuff, especially with the velocity that Eovaldi has, they can develop their secondary pitches and improve their strikeout totals. Of course right now neither are of the quality of what the Braves and Nats have in both the majors and the minors, but I like their potential.

WHOA I would not call Eovaldi or Turner "studs in the making." One of them would be lucky to end up a good #3.
I'm with giles on Eovaldi, he's a reliever long-term.
Turner is OK, see him as a 3.

Man hate it Beachy got hurt, but he would have been mentioned on this thread a lot if he hadn't.

JJ, Hanson etc... all "lost it" or they would have been in the conversation too. Just can't count on that pitching materializing long term.

Turner was a stud prospect with Detroit than had some adjustment issues. He's still only 23

Sickels should release his Marlins too prospect list today.

Turner hasn't even had a good minor league season since 2011. Injuries or not, that's a concern, and his ceiling is likely considerably lower than it was back then. I remember someone said last year they'd trade Minor for him. Hahaaaa.
