Your Ideal Offseason

I think we'll try to get the OF first so we can have more clarity on the financial situation before making any other moves (given that it seems to be the most pressing need at the moment).

That would certainly make sense if we assume AA's plans are to play in the Brantley/McCutchen/Pollack end of the OF pool, sure.

However, if the trade everyone has the feeling is coming is relatively close - and involves an OF rather than a TOR arm or Diaz - that could probably change pretty quickly.

Just another of the million or so scenarios that exist at this point, but imagine that AA and his former Dodgers buddies have talked enough that he feels like the makings of a deal for Pederson are there (or even a Peralta deal) - and there's not much left to do other than iron out the last couple of details. For instance, they've agreed that both sides are interested in a deal enough that LA (or the D-Backs) are simply sifting through a handful of players to decide which ones they prefer, If he feels like a deal was that close, it would make plenty of sense for him to jump out there and strike first if he was more interested in Familia over Britton or someone else (not that those are the names he's looking at, but you get the idea). In that situation, it's easy to imagine him moving on a back-end arm first and giving the other team a few extra days to settle on the guys they want.
