Alright I want to get back into the habit I had here many years ago. THis probably will be less of a song of the day and more like of the week/month, etc but I love this thread. And don't want a new one.
I've been on a bender of assessing music in film. And I really do think Howard SHore fucking smoked the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Like I feel like the movies are only about 5% as good without the movies. Like the theme the shire is perfect. It makes you feel like you're home.
This scene in Sinners was so good, it's such a fucking wild composition. Ludwig is truly a genius. The 808 cicada high hat with traditional african instruments, a blues hook, funk elements, etc. blending together, makes for a choatic but beautiful composition. Got to be IMO song of the year for the Oscar front runner.
