I want to start a campaign, I'm gonna run on MSHTSGA or Make the Super Bowl Half-Time Show Great Again.
Template, find a legendary performer perhaps a bit past their prime who still has it, pay them money, reap benefits

Also acceptable format, find a modern artist with Charisma and let them shine, see Beyonce, Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars sans Chili Peppers.
Following that Template I present a handful of opportunities for your next halftime shows.
From the older rockers who still got it
Foo Fighters
Guns N' Roses (would be extra great to have the OG lineup)
Van Halen (would be extra great to have the OG lineup)
Pearl Jam
Metallica
Radiohead - I'd mainly just like to see what they would do with a national audience and huge budget.
Usher - Come on who doesn't want to see Usher bust it live on stage. Throw in some Lil Jon and you got yourself a show.
For more modern artists who haven't done it yet
Taylor Swift - strong back catalog, she is learnign the act of putting on a show and I think can probably carry it now.
Jack White - White Stripes/Raconteurs/original stuff. This man has a lot.
Zac Brown Band - Country with some cross genre appeal.
Bieber - Guy has a whole generation of women fawning over him.
Rihanna - Girl has a ton of hits
Now to the list of people I'd want to see but the NFL would never approve
Kendrick Lamar, his Grammy performance was ****ign amazing.

Childish Gambino has such amazing range as a performer

Iron Maiden, they're old as ****, but still put on a heck of a show

Prophets of Rage - Lots of opportunities to touch on a number of songs, from Rage, to Cypress Hill to Public Enemy to their own stuff and chance with some guest vocalists at things like Audioslave.
Alice in Chains - Still put on a hell of a show, but they don't mesh with the Super Bowl vibe but I'd love to put them on a huge stage.
Queens of the Stone Age - Great band, has lived in the periphery of popularity, but not big enough to get the nod. Fans love them and Homme has a great stage presence.
