2024 Field

I know you haven't been around as much but sadly thethe has devolved into agreeing with Trump that states passing baby saving legislation is a "terrible thing"

he is on record as supporting more abortion so that it may be easier for them to win elections

Ahh. I would have expected social moderates in the Republican party to celebrate the issue going to the states. That's really the only chance Pubs have at being competitive in Presidential elections in the future. But I would also expect people to remember that Trump campaigned on ending Rowe before he made it possible.

You mean like the 21 states that have already passed more restrictive abortion rights since RvW was overturned?

That doesn't exactly jive with your statement.

You're confusing a state passing restrictions through a controlled state congress as opposed to when restrictions are put to a vote to the general public. It doesn'tw ork out when people vote on it.

The issue going to the states is fantastic - Thats the whole point. But to have osmeone at the top of the ticket that is an easy scare tactic to moderates that he will force your kids to have unwanted pregnancies is the easiest target to win a national election I can think of.

Yet Florida is has a large percentage of fairly moderate Republicans. Not only did they support him, but they re-elected him in blowout fashion. And based on his popularity in FL, it would seem they don't care too much about this issue.

Great - The 'swing state' of florida is super important for a general election.

I believe the state also now has more registered Republicans than Democrats for the first time ever.

we could look at a state like, oh I don't know... Georgia.

which passed a heartbeat bill.

and then the governor who passed it won re-election easily by 8+ points.

and you may have forgotten... but Trump, Perdue, Walker, et al all lost in GA

what should I read from that, data guy?

And if RDS stayed in the primary he would have gotten whooped by Trump.

Florida has had tremendous population growth for decades and majorities in the state houses.

You think politicians in 21 states are going to put their livelihood on the line to back legislation that the vast majority don't want?

I find that very hard to believe. In fact, studies show that the vast majority of Americans fall into the category of that abortions should have restrictions. Considering most Americans are not moderate Republicans, I strongly disagree with your sentiment.

Every single time, even in republican states, when abortion restrcitions are on the ballot it loses.

What is there to even dispute about that?

We can look at GA, which we already have. Or we can look at Texas... which signed the heartbeat bill in 2021.

In 2022, About won re-election easily, by 11 points. Easily outperforming Trump's 2020 margin of 5 points.

If you want to know the stance that moderate Republicans have on RDS, shouldn't his state be your primary source?

I'm not sure I'd place Florida as a moderate Republican state as the margins have grown since 2016.

Rust belt states are more indicative of moderate republicans that are crossing over from blue dog democrat status.

Shocker that Trump continues to outperform Republicans but the Democrats DEFINITELY wanted to face him.

Can't make up this high level analysis.

THis is even a D+8 poll - But sure. The Democrats were using lawfare against Trump because they wanted to go after him.

It was a moderate state. RDS nearly lost his first gubernatorial campaign to a married dude who was found drugged up in a cheap hotel with a gay lover. A few years of RDS later and it's now a red state.

oh get ready for the "you are too low iq, you misunderstand the election results" lecture incoming

The state hasn't operated as a moderate state in a while and it took a full fledged media onslaught to help Gillum. Fortunately, Trump helped RDS get over the hump and Loomer stopped the steal (who knows how many fake votes made it through).

The cabal running this country needs to be destroyed.

Stole 2020 and they know this is the obit way they have a shot at 2024. Just madness what we are seeing in real time.

You instantly believe anything reported about Biden behind the scenes but anything about Trump is fake news.

This proves that Biden had no role in Trump's prosecution .

And it shows that prosecution so close to the election is to Trump's benefit because he would already be in prison if it started earlier.
