Hard to say but possibly until after the election. I don't think he will sentence Trump to prison because if he does the judge realizes any appeal will be expedited because of it. If Trump goes to prison there's a very strong chance the SCOTUS steps in immediately.

This is more about damaging Trump before the election than prison I believe.

I've paid zero attention to the actual details of this bc it's been obviously a political whitch hunt.

But I'm assuming, under some letter of the law, that the conviction can be justified

There's also a question of whether NY had jurisdiction over the feds here.
