GDT #21, 4/23/14: Marlins (Eovaldi) @ Braves (Harang), 12:10

Ok, Paul Byrd just compared Aaron Harang to Cliff Lee the year he won the Cy Young (having been in AAA the year before [and, as an aside -- shopped to the Braves who were uninterested]). I'm thrilled with Harang's performance so far this season -- and wish him nothing but the best going forward -- but I do believe expectations need to be toned down just a bit.

Yeah they need to be toned down but what if this is just one of those years. What if this is like Dickey's 2012 or Ian Kennedy's 2011. Guys have freaky seasons all of the time.

When are you doubters (you know who you are) going to get on Gattis' bandwagon? This is 3 games in 8 days with the game winning RBI. And quit crapping, I mean griping about Harang.

True. And it's not like Harang hasn't been a Cy Young caliber pitcher in the past.

In Atlantas environment with McDowell as the pitching coach its certainly possible. THat would be something else man.

The Braves pitchers this series had an ERA of 0.96 with 41Ks and only 5 Walks. That's unbelievable. I'm starting to think that this isn't a a fluke, these guys are good. Harang is awesome, I love the guys location and command.

take it with a grain of salt, the Marlins are a bad hitting team.

...which, btw, is Greek for "I have inhaled it!"

We got a vintage Mike Mussina season out of John Burkett just one season after we claimed him when the Devil Rays released him, so a good year out of Harang wouldn't be the unlikeliest thing to ever happen on the Turner Field pitcher's mound.

And honestly, pitchers are just weird. Things fall apart for no reason, then suddenly click for no reason. Some of us are old enough to remember when the Giants first traded Ryan Vogelsong. With Armando Rios. For Jason Schmidt. He gets his head beaten in for Pittsburgh, disappears, then shows up five years later and contends for an ERA title. You just try and ride the wave while you can.
