Trade targets?

It’d be cool if just like someone other than Ozuna couldn’t for a few days. Guys backs gonna give out

Turner looks cooked. Maybe if Toronto was paying his entirely salary. Even then I am not sure I would use a roster spot on him given his seemingly reduced usefulness defensively.,

I’d be shocked if they do it, but a package deal for Arozarena and Eflin would be a strong move. This is an excellent squad (counting Harris now since he’s closer):

Kelenic RF - Harris CF - Riley 3B - Ozuna DH - Arozarena LF - Olson 1B - Murphy/TD C - Alvarez 2B - Arcia SS

Sale - Lopez - Morton - Eflin - Schwelly with Elder and AJSS waiting in the wings.

Barring setbacks, Fried and Albies are expected back before the playoffs.

I would also like a move for Eflin and Arozarena. But I am not sure how we make the money work without going over the luxury tax. I guess we could give up a better package to have Tampa take on money this year, but it depends on what that would look like. Trading away one of your best prospects currently to save 10 spots in next years draft probably isn't worth it.

Merrifield is one of those guys who Snit will absolutely play over Nacho if he comes in and gets a couple flukey hits right off the bat.

I think Nacho is going to get a legit opportunity to win a job. Maybe Merrifield can take some 2B reps so we can get a look at Nacho at SS

That is exactly what I am afraid of...Then he will get like a month of playing sh*tty for Nacho to get another start...See Duvall as a reference for that

Just blow by the luxury threshold, and get Brandon Lowe, arozarena, and effin. Add Harris back, and you have an actual mlb offense again

If we pick up the option on Lowe, platoon him and Ozzie at 2b next season. You'd have damn good production at 2b

It won’t happen, but trading Iglesias could free up enough money to fill our needs, and there’s not many late inning arms on the market.

I don't think that punting a contention season by trading whatever rentals there are is impossible if it becomes clear that it isn't going to happen for this team. In fact, that's absolutely what a front office maximizing return for assets should do.

The act of making that kind of decision is attention calling and alienates fans so you'd better be able to rebound the following year.

The other approach is simply not to make any significant moves. That's the next best thing.

The other option is the Texeira type trade that tries to give you a puncher's chance.

I don't think the Tex trade was all that bad actually except that the chance of winning was slim to spend so many disposable assets on.

And then they got nothing out of trading off Tex.

The Mutts literally did this last year and now back in the playoff picture... only 3 games behind this pathetic team. There is nothing wrong with trading rentals during a lost season.. biggest issue would be Fried being injured.

but trading rentals for a lottery ticket is not closing the window.. it is just being real.

The Mets weren't the top WC when they punted. Either go all-in or don't do anything, but punting seems dumb.

ANd in 2021 we weren't in a great spot and made some smart acquisitions and went on a run and won the whole ****ing thing.

6 games backa nd below .500 but some smart acquisitions and we won the division by 6 games and the whole damned show.

I'm not saying selling is a bad idea, but seling being the best idea isn't really true either. It depends on what's on the market.

3 team trade with the Rays where we get Efflin/Randy, the 3rd team gets Iglesias, and Rays get prospects from us and 3rd team.

Or we make separate trades, but trading Iglesias could be a creative way to straddle the deadline.

The question would be, could we absorb the hit to the pen in exchange for an upgrade to the rotation and lineup
