2024 Field

I agree there are multitudes of factors obviously. I just think our subsidizing exasperates everything

as an aside, I much prefer these types of back and forth where we can start from an agreement that I do not actively want people starving to death

Nope, you're just ambivalent to it.

If you eliminate these programs, millions of people will experience starvation. Many of them will die. That isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

We can talk about reform all day if you like, but that isn't what you are arguing for. You literally have argued that nation wide starvation can simply be funded by charities, despite overwhelming evidence that isn't the case.

I just think incentives drive all behavior.

When the fed provides a guarantee to food, there is no incentive for people to get their **** together and work for better things. Same thing with single parents - we give money for single parents, and lo and behold, we now have an explosion of children out of wedlock. And then of course this leads to more hunger. A vicious cycle

Let's end Social Security then, eh? Old people are just suckling on the teat of the American public, amirite?

I believe local governments and private charities and communities are much better solutions to helping program than a centralized bureaucracy that has failed to reduce hunger even an inch over its existence

How you end it is what I'm most interested in. What age do you just stop collecting it on and they become the first to not get it?

I've not done the math but preliminary thoughts are something like:

Anyone over 60 is untouched

50-60 will get 75% of benefits but contributions stop

40-50 would be allowed to opt out and lose all contributions, or accept ~50% of benefits

30-40 can opt out and accept 25% of benefits

Under 30 is cancelled and contributions stopped

Employer contributions would remain for ~20 or so years to help current recipients

I just pulled those numbers out of thin air but some system like this I think is workable

One truly weird ****ing thing some Dems have done recently is get hung up on whether Trump got hit with a bullet or glass. It’s one of those conspiracies I don’t understand because it doesn’t change anything. Even if Trump didn’t get hit by a bullet, he was clearly shot at. Maybe worry about something else.

Eh, if Dems play this right nationally (which they are so far) I think the pendulum swings in the other direction. Not enough to win the election because Harris isn’t a great candidate, but I think her being the actual candidate will change the polling on this in her favor through at least the convention.

Yes - A short term bounce is inevitable as Pravda props her up and pretends she is worthy of this position.

Then it will be a slow drip to having worse numbers than Biden.

Kamala is going to be such a gift not only to the top of the ticket but the bottom as well.

Could be looking at LARGE majorities in both houses.

The Democrats are going to find out that Biden/Pelosi were the last thing holing the party together until it completely fractures.

Cajun is gonna throw a tantrum now that Harris can joke about throwing weed related offenses in jail in record numbers.

History books will look back at these 4 years and wonder what the **** happened.

I'm just grateful that the Dems have procured so much of the Jew Hate vote that they can't put Shapiro at the top of the ticket. Only one that worries me.
