Trade targets?

You guys are funny thinking this team is anywhere close to 21. That team had WC/freeman/good Swanson/ good Riley and good Ozzie. Only thing that team lacked was starters like the Braves have this year. I would say the pen is close to the same. 21 was probably better.

I will eat my shoe if this team makes it past first round.

If this team gets in they’ll be extremely dangerous. Riley and Olson are to good to be this bad forever. As long as we can limp into the playoffs with our SP in tact it’ll be really interesting.

And theoretically come september we'll have Ozzie, Riley, Olson, Ozuna, etc.

Freddie's 21 was one of his worse seasons. It still was great but there's a real chance Freddie+21 having a pitcher hit vs. Olson and Ozuna won't matter.

What made that team click was Riley getting incredibly hot (155 wRC+ in second half) and our additions (Soler 133 wRC+, Duval 107 wRC+, Rosario 134 wRC+, and Joc 101 wRC+)

Odds of us repeating our success we did in 2021 aren't high, BUT to act like we're out of it right now is silly and comparing us to the Mets last year is moronic, as the Mets were 46-53 at this point and 18.5 back in the division, and were I think 7.5 back in the WIld Card. WE're 60-42 and are currently 3 games up int he wild card.

If Fried is healthy and if Sale and Lopez are healthy we'll be ****ing problems. Sale Lopez Fried and Morton is a great playoff rotation. Especially if we treat Morton as a bullpen game and let him rip.

ALl it takes is out bats to get hot. If our bats are hot we have a competant team. Imagine a stroking ALbies, Olson, Riley, and Ozuna in the playoffs.

A team in the first WC position isn’t selling anyone at the deadline.

The crybaby handwringing on this board is absurd.

Fix the OF and go clinch a playoff spot. Stop whining like losers.

I also don't see the Braves trading the rentals they have.. But unfortunately this team is not good for a myriad of reason and is under .500 since May 1st. They have been slowly hemorrhaging the WC lead all summer and unless certain key players figure out what is going on, this team will be watching other teams choke in the first round this October. Just last month the Braves had a 7+ game lead in the WC spot. Down to 3.5 as of today.

It will be interesting what rentals they decide to get. I hope they get a strong personality personally.

As long as they don't trade Schwelly, Nacho, AJSS, or any of the rookie ball international guys, I won't have issue with whoever they bring in.

No trade target we can get would help a fraction as much as if Olson would return to last year's form, along with getting cinnamon rolls back

I am the same. I don't know the rules anymore about trading recent draftees.. but I would add them and Drake as well. Drake wouldn't be a heartbreaker if they get a controlled player back, SS preferably. <---Nacho either

Only reason I want a strong personality (joc type) is to shake up the clubhouse. Change whatever lifeless vibe is happening this year.

I was saying this over a month ago - this team has been very mediocre (36-39) save for a 24 game stretch to start the season. This was before even Acuna went down. I predicted the slide to continue right into a .500 record at the end of the year, and now I don't see how that doesn't happen. Bad things happen to good teams and fortunately the Braves are still very much in their contention window. Go get 'em next year!

Let's not forget Grichuk was signed for $2M about 3 minutes before Duvall was signed for $3M, and has posted a .280/.339/.433 line so far.

Hopefully AA has learned the lesson he can't have a bench full of complete garbage, and if his dinosaur manager can't figure out how to play quality bench guys 1-2 games per week he must also address that tactical shortcoming in the dugout.

The issues in the OF are directly related to AA's inability to acquire solid bench options...because Dino-Snit can't figure out how to get them playing time.

It was made known that was the problem with role players not wanting to play for Atlanta because they rot on the bench.. but on the flip side, Pillar wanted to play in ATL but was allowed to walk. He would have looked a lot better than Dufail.. so Twit definitely has blame here.. but AA also carries some as well.

At the end of the day, AA employs Snit, so all blame ultimately falls on AA.

All we heard all offseason was "the Braves play guys every day, so there's no need for a strong bench", and, "low end FAs don't want to be bench players in Atlanta because they won't get PAs".

We are witnessing firsthand in a very painful manner how flawed that logic is. Contenders need competent bench players, and those bench players must play enough to remain competent. Leading the league in number of players who played 160+ games for 1 season is meaningless when that unsustainable health turns.

I also think deploying bench pieces (2 guys at minimum) makes the starters better. The whole notion that putting in league average players (or slightly better) at the expense of all stars is a bad idea because that one game the all star could be the entire offense is dumb. I don't know if there is a study, but I have to imagine guys who get regular rest perform better and probably stay healthier over the long haul than guys who just play everyday.

I actually don’t think it’s too unusual to see a lull even five days away from the deadline. I think Sunday, possibly as early as Saturday, things will pick up

I think I am rooting for the Braves to not trade any good prospects. If we can get something for cheap that's fine but we shouldn't be trading our top prospects for a rental to help this year only.
