Around Baseball 2024 edition

Yankees cut Jeter Downs. He's absolutely someone the Braves need to bring in. He's world's better than someone like Luke Williams who should not be on any major league team. I would say he is on par with Zack Short as well.

same ol crap where wildcard starts on Tuesday and goes through Friday if a team sweeps the first 2 games they get 2 days off before Saturdays start.
The AL is even worse. They start Saturday as well, but then have a day off on Sunday before resuming on Monday. So if the AL WC team wins in 2 games. they could go #3 on Saturday and then right back to #1 on Monday with normal rest. absolutely no penalty for being a wc team.

NL WC starts on Tuesday goes through Thursday... NLDS starts on Friday and Saturday.. off Sunday
AL WC starts on Wednesday goes through Friday... ALDS starts on Saturday and Sunday-- off monday. WC is at same park(best record)

is it really that hard??
 
Can we at least Photoshop the right uniform onto him for these pictures. Feels like seeing my best friend wearing a Nazi uniform.
 
As frustrating as this season has been so far, it could always be worse. The White Sox are just an absolute disaster. They are in the midst of an 18 game losing streak. OUCH

We sure about that? He has all of 20 mlb games and his minor league stats have consistently been mediocre. We know Luke Williams sucks in the majors but puts up about the same numbers as Downs in the minors. I think the most likely scenario is Downs sucks just as bad. I think you’re still hung up on his old prospect status.

Yes I am sure Downs is immensely more talented than Williams. It doesn't matter anyways. The only reason the Yanks cut him is because he asked to be released to play in Japan.

But he also hasn’t been any good lol… talent doesn’t mean much if you can’t do anything with it

Downs has been a significantly better player in the minors than Williams has. In the majors, they've been equally as bad, though Williams has significantly more PAs.

In the end we're talking about 2 bench level players. I don't care enough to actually argue about them. Downs seems to be a good bit better than Williams all around and Downs has the ability to play SS. But it doesn't matter anyways since he's going to Japan.
 
For those not keeping track. Ohtani is likely to get 40/40 this year with a decent shot at 50/50. He's the 3rd fastest player to reach 30/30.
