2024 Field

Ah yes, the movies where people rallied against the rich fascists who ruled them. Musk surely is on the right side.

If that is what you took away from all of those movies, you clearly didn't watch most of them or are simply too weak minded to admit that Musk is right. Even Hunger Games is far more complicated than "rallying against rich fascists."

Polls are certainly starting to cool on Kommiela over the last few days. But as someone else said, at this point the debates will likely have more sway than anything else.

What about the rest of us. I want free money too.

eh...who do you think will be working and paying for your social security and other old-age benefits

you and the rest of us have a vested interest in children growing up to be productive citizens

Good luck Zitos a self titled movie expert

This is obvious and should be the #1 focus for all politicians.

Making sure good paying jobs for these families will need to be prioritized as well.

I would think reducing childhood poverty and all the pathologies and problems that come with it would be one of those issues we reach some sort of bipartisan agreement on

in fact the House (controlled by the GOP) passed a bill doing this...but it died in the Senate

Childhood poverty is reduced when better low skill jobs are available.

This is pretty weird.

Did we not do enough of this with Madison Cawthorn? It is no more useful to just make fun of JD Vance for dressing as a girl for a costume than it is to insult someone for dressing according to their gender expression. **** like this allows for people to paint us all as reactionaries with paper values.

not really...it is still there with a very low unemployment rate...people with low productivity get paid a wage that reflects that no matter how many immigrants are allowed in the country

it is a basic thang...what determines real wages...the answer is the productivity of the worker...that's why employment drops when the minimum wage goes up...the jobs are still there but the prevailing wage is too high relative to the productivity of available workers

Low unemployment because of BS low paying retail jobs versus medium paying manufacturing positions is a lot different.

The problem with this tends to be automation more than policy, in my opinion. Retail offers more jobs because it’s harder to automate those roles. They’ve tried, and customers largely reject it because the work falls to them. Consumers don’t care at the point-of-sale who made it, but they do care if they have to scan their own items at the register.

Automation will not stop but that doesn't mean all low skilled labor for manufacturing is automated.

There is a lot of interesting discussion about how automation will yield new types of jobs for all types.

The biggest problem will be those that drive for a living (which is a **** ton of people).

I think when you are strenuous in your objections to blurring of gender roles, a little ridicule is fair game when a picture of this sort emerges. I'm glad to see JD had some fun as a young man. We should loosen up about thangs like nudity and cross dressing. Anything that gets us away from our puritanical hangups is a good thang.

Doing something as a joke (implying its a joke tells on your true feelings) is different than indoctrinating a whole generation of kids to believe something that isn't true.

Automation or technological change actually increases productivity. It allows for higher wages for people with the skills to use the new technology. The key to a better economy for everyone is ensuring people acquire those skills. In principle everyone can become more productive. But in practice there are all sorts of hurdles. Some of it is in the realm of taking the responsibility to acquire those skills. But some of the hurdles can be removed or reduced with good policy.

Or work alongside the technology which is something we will see expand as automation increases.

Fun fact about me - Made a bet with my 12th grade bio teacher (adorable 4'10 women with hair down to her feet) that I'd dress up as a girl to school if she put her hair in a mohawk.

Needless to say my lady friends had fun making me up that morning.

I joke a lot around here about indoctrinating a new group of first year students every year. But those kids are not indoctrinated. They think for themselves. Try to get to know some of them. For the most part the youth of this country give me a lot of hope. I worry more about what is happening to their parents' generation.

I had to wear a Yankees uniform once cuz I lost a bet. Hopefully that picture never emerges.

If JD Vance were doing this while going to public schools to indoctrinate children, you might have a point.

I don't think anyone has made a stance that adults can't make these type of decisions for themselves.
