While my opinion may not mean much, I don't think leaning in to the disease is a healthy path to treat gender dysphoria. We don't encourage other mental illnesses the same way we encourage GD. We wouldn't encourage someone with crippling depression to be depressed simply because they have a condition that makes them feel that way.

Most gendor confusion stems from relationships with the parents.

All mental health care should address that issue first and foremost and most trans nonsense would dissapear.

Leaving out the rest of my post purposely? Would you support a 12 year old girl with severe body image issues getting a boob job, or some other major cosmetic surgery?

I think my primary point of contention is that you (and elected officials/commentators) are choosing which mental health conditions you trust doctors on and which conditions you don’t, then making laws to restrict care based on your opinions. I’m not saying an appeal to authority is itself good, but it’s confusing to me that some only seem to question that authority when it’s convenient to do so politically.

Do you agree that it's a mental health condition? And if so, can you think of any other mental health conditions that we encourage patients to lean in on?

Doctors can't even agree what appropriate care is. And the data on the mental health of post-op trans genders is muddy at best. Some studies have even shown an increase in suicide rates. So why would you automatically default the most extreme option being ok, especially on children?

Especially once the childless cat ladies die out.

12 strikes me as young. I had a friend in HS who needed breast reduction because it was causing her back problems and psychological harm as well. I think parents in consultation with doctors can figure out the right age.

Trump and team are going to turn the country around so fast it will shock people.

We just stopped following laws to facilitate an invasion that would lead to the downfall of the country.
