Duvall simply isn't an MLB caliber player anymore. He's lost a good bit of bat speed and it shows. And his other tools have always been below average other than defense.
 
Soler is up to his old tricks again. 176 WRC+ since joining the Braves.

Now we just need to get Albies back before the end of the year and our lineup will be alright.

Meh. He's a better defender than Ramon and usually a better platoon option as well despite his recent struggles.

It's also a depth move as bad as it sounds if someone gets injured again.

It is strictly a depth move. AA loves the Flexibility and I knew deep down he couldn't quit Dufail cold turkey. AA will have to go to a support group to finally get rid of him.

But yes, Ramon/Duvall/White are meh1/meh2/meh3 all have something going for them with downsides to boot.

I assume right now Ramon is primary platoon partner with Dufail as pinch hitter/late defense for Soler.

They may have been afraid that Duvall would sign with a potential Wild Card nemesis like the Mets, Padres, or Diamondbacks like Eddie did the Mets. With the Braves throwing out Sale and Fried, they may have been paranoid a bit.

I would be elated if any of the lefties the Braves have had to face Dufail in a playoff game/run.. Dude is cooked.
 
Remember that time I wanted AA to sign Grichuk for $2M, but instead he signed Duvall a week later for $3M?

How's that decision looking?
