GDT 9/30/24: Braves vs Mets - DH Game 2

It’s incredible we made the post season but if Sale is out this is unreal. I really don’t ever recall us having this many key injuries. Someone needs to step up and do a 99 Chipper to pick up the slack for injuries.

Going SD/LA/Philly/then whoever in the WS would be like the hardest playoff path ever. Without HFA in every round. If we can bring back Lauraeno, Merrifield, Urshela, we should at least have better depth than in the past.

Is it fair to say Sale wasn't even at the ballpark today and this the Braves knew he wouldn't be available? I never saw him

I assume he was getting treatment. Back stuff is kind of unpredictable but sometimes there are things you could do to help. Getting on a west coast flight with back spasms also is not ideal. With that issue though I doubt the would have been hanging out in the dugout.

Even if sale can pitch tomorrow, I don't think you could use him. Iggy and Jiminez are most likely out. If he can pitch, you go sale on Wednesday and fried on Thursday.

So this is totally ending with Charlie having to pitch Game 3 isn't it?

I doubt it. You can could argue the 1 inning from Lopez was his throw day. He had only 15 pitches. Fried and Lopez could start games 2 and 3 on normal rest.

Would have lined up perfectly if Sale didn't have back issues.

Yeah, Fried and Lopez can go games 2-3. Not even sure whats gonna happen Game 1 with who we had to throw today plus Sale's situation. Holmes, Jimenez, and Iggy are for sure unavailable.

Padres going with King/Musgrove/Cease, in games 1-3. Probably hoping they win in 2, so Cease can go Game 1 vs LA.

It’s time.

I'd throw Ian Anderson. He doesn't have a pulse and has a 1.26 lifetime playoff ERA in 35 innings. He started adequately in Gwinnett late in the season.

Hey, our options aren't great. Waldrep and S-S have trouble finding home plate. Elder has a 70% chance of getting rocked. Your bullpen is tired and needs a blow. Need somebody to step up and give us 6.

All the options for game 1 are essentially the same. I feel like I’d go with Anderson just because he at least has some experience in big games. All the options suck though, so it doesn’t really matter which poor option they pick.
