I think the team feels that if they are going to go out, then it will be with Fried and Lopez throwing. If somehow the team can secure a win tonight, then they can play game 2 in a lot of different ways depending on score/inning and situations. If they lose, then they go Lopez on short rest as well and might see Morton for game 3 on short rest.
every pen guy will be available tonight.. suck it up and get out there..

It was clear in the Reds game Sale wasn't right. He should have been pulled and checked.. Instead they let him get up over 90 pitches and now he is done. For a team that prioritized protecting the staff, they did a ****ty job.

I disagree. They practically did everything but wrap Sale in bubble wrap this year. And there’s nothing they could’ve done about Strider, even if Snitker should’ve been paying attention to his velo drop.
I do agree that yesterday was grossly mishandled.
This was the only option, imo. Yes he doesn't have great command, but his stuff can be downright dominant at times.I feel like Elder is a good complement to him, as he has good command, but his stuff is mediocre. If AJSS starts walking the world, bring in Elder.

what I am saying is that you can try to hide from injuries all you want but you can't.. just pitch guys normal and win as many games as possible instead of punting games all year to try and protect guys that ended up getting hurt. Maybe if you won 3-4 more games you could be setting up your rotation with SS/Fried/Lopez.. and a pen that is not completely gassed.

There are about 100 scenarios that if AJSS goes 7, then twit failed.. and about 10 where it would be acceptable for him to go 7.

I prefer AJSS to Elder, but concerned that he'll pitch too well the first time through, which will result in a 4th inning meltdown when Snit leaves him in. If that happens, I hope the plan is to let Elder eat the meaningless innings.

The Braves are going to have to find a way to win a game when they give up 4+ runs. The record in those games is... ridiculous. (13-58, 4-16 when giving up exactly 4 runs).

This stat right here defines the Braves offense more than any other imo.. Beating up on a guy who is off or bottom of barrel reliever to pad some runs scored stat or xwoba.. This team is worse than the numbers would imply.

Our situational hitting was awful. Can’t get runners in from third to save our life.
