2024 Field

Saw this start going around last night around the same time as Halperin’s rumor about a “campaign ending” story being sent around. I doubt there is anything out there Trump has been seen or heard saying that will impact the election, but how bad could it be for this effort to start?

Edited to add: I’m not casting doubt on someone trying to use a deepfake. Any time anybody says they have evidence of some insane thing, it should always be considered deeper than just accepting it.

Holy ****. This is amazing.

She shoulda just said no.

She was just asked this question by Baier and handled it terribly. Now the question comes up again and she somehow handles it even worse than she did the first time. You’d think Kamala or someone on her team would've said after the Baier interview “hmm, we didn’t have a great answer for that question…let’s craft something better in case it comes up again.”

Same thing with the “what would you do differently than Biden,” or any of the other common questions she’s starting to get.

This is like walking into a job interview and being unprepared for the “so tell me a little bit about yourself” question.

Then again, maybe I’m giving her and her team too much credit. There’s a reason she was bounced from the 2020 primary before votes were cast. (D) not sending its best.

Anddddd....the transgender care answer was WORSE.

It somehow was made about Trump in an effort to divert. It was a really bad bad look.

Regarding the Atlantic story, I have a couple stray thoughts:

1) I’m largely willing to ignore the thing about the Guillen family as an anonymous source he-said she-said nonsense, but I have found it somewhat curious that in a story that was directly about Trump’s actions well after the meeting with the Guillens with a provable claim (that Trump followed through and paid personally for the funeral) that all defenses have been about the part that was stated in the story as having been positive. Given that the Guillen family remains steadfastly supportive of Trump, I don’t think there’s much point in finding out the answer, but these are pretty narrowly tailored defenses of Trump.

2) I don’t see how many can be incredulous of some of the claims of his words on captured and injured veterans given his very public ridicule of war heroes he disagreed with. I find it very rich that so many that don’t give two ****s about the military are clutching their pearls over it though. I don’t think Trump gives two ****s about those who have served, but I don’t think that’s nearly as unique as it’s pretended to be.

LOL

This is all the same unverified sources from someone inside, etc.... that went around the first time that all were untrue.

Its a media shamefest.

As somone in media says "You don't hate the media enough. You think you do, but you don't"

Except for the things stated by people who were there like Kelly, Milley and various Trump staffers over the years. It doesn’t affect me either way, but I’m not *more* inclined to trust the people still in Trump’s orbit over those that left it just because it’s crass or unexpected.

If there was a "campaign ending story" about Trump, with any truth to it whatsoever, and the networks already know about it, it would absolutely have been released by now. IF they aren't running with the information, it's because they can't verify the story.

The article in the Atlantic was a joke of an article that didn't reveal any new information about story that has been widely debunked and using more "anonymous sources". Just a desperate attempt from a failing "news" outlet to get clicks.

it is worth noting that presidents have very wide leeway on tariffs an deportations...looking forward to seeing trump's ideas implemented so much im almost rooting for him

Denied and debunked are two very different things.

And yet there are a dozen of people who were there and say Kelly is lying through his teeth.

I wouldn't put it past Trump to say something out of line and offensive. He has a long history of doing that. But I also don't trust the word of former associates with an axe to grind. Especially given all the outright lies and fake scandals we've seen directed at Trump since he first won the Republican primary in 2016.

To clarify, I don’t just blindly trust Kelly’s claims either. But I’m not any less inclined to believe him than the people who claim he didn’t. Even if more people deny the claim than support it, it’s not like they have any less of an agenda to push. So a dozen politically connected people telling me Trump didn't say this thing that’s just a variation of things he’s said in public doesn’t sway me either.

When Kelly was working for Trump the media constantly called him a liar. When he turned on Trump his words now have merit to the media.

I do completely support this criticism of the media and the left. Someone suddenly finding their memory or courage of something shouldn’t be trusted quite so uncritically. So leading news shows with the Atlantic story does read as silly at best, but more likely intellectually dishonest. I know why it’s done, and Republicans aren’t actually any better at not falling into this trap (NBC debate whistleblower, Biden cognitive decline, etc.) but Dems seem a bit too incredulous when you attack the integrity of a person they’ve spent years attacking the integrity of.

The one claim I find the most spurious: the Hitler stuff, is actually being pretty willfully misrepresented by the right wing media to good results. By focusing on the obvious Nazi side of this and not the fascist side of this, it definitely sounds sillier and easier to swat away. A masterclass by the response team to play into the sensationalism the mention of Hitler drives in this conversation. Even if Trump said those things to Kelly, the takeaway isn’t that he wants to be a Nazi, it’s that he wants the military to do what he, Donald Trump, wants. And to be honest, I don’t think *that* is a particularly controversial thing to believe to be true given his public statements.

Looks like the final hail Mary may be them simply saying he's too dangerous to be president and therefore they simply won't let him. You know, to save democracy

Regarding the tweet here, I can think of no greater win for Harris than a campaign to get her to answer that question, because she’d get two weeks of airtime of her being the first candidate to just answer yes to it. Like it’s the easiest campaign slam dunk of all time. They’ve even spent the last 4 years training for that exact moment.

The dems have had no respect for the voters in years. Why start now

Democrats at least believe we should all get to vote and it should count. Republicans want less voters. Joe Biden certified Trump's EC win without complaint or drama. Anyone who thinks Kamala is a threat to not certify us retarded. Not that it matters. She could take off to Belize and the Senate something takes her place. I believe Grassley has that position in 2020.
