The only thing I find aggravating about the Freeman exodus is the "it's the agent's fault" argument that gets trotted out (shades of Furcal). Chipper is right. I think the simple fact is Freeman had a price and the Braves weren't going to match that price. They danced until the music stopped and things then fell as they did.
And before the "Well, if he really wanted to stay in Atlanta . . ." chorus commences, if anyone here wonders why the MLBPA is the strongest pro sports union, it's that they players are more loyal to each other than they are in other sports. It was the same way with Glavine, who was a union rep. These guys are well paid and a few give hometown or discounts based on other factors (longevity with a team being the most prominent), but they usually go to the wall for themselves and for future players (Major league players mostly.
