I also didn't notice how good of a season Burrow is having and the Bengals are still 4-8.
The Falcons are spiraling. Cousins is done. In his last 4 games he has 0 TDs and 8 picks. He hasn't thrown a TD pass since Nov 3.
On top of that, Morris is utterly incapable of getting this team out of this slide. Dude looks like a deer in the headlights.
Cousins will break your collective hearts. He'll rack up some big-time stats, but he just lacks some qualities that top-tier QBs possess.
Also, I'd like to point out I was right about Cousins being an awful bet and also right that Morris was a terrible hire.
I don't think signing Cousins was a bad bet, it was signing him to multiple years that was a bad bet. Sure they can June 1st cut him but they also lose a lot of the advantage of having a QB on a rookie contract for those 2 years. Best case scenario Penix is good then by the time Cousins is off the book they have to pay Penix big money. I think Penix needed a year to develop but the Falcons should have used this as a building year and not trying to compete.
Reality is the Falcons have almost no time to turn it wround. Going 7-10 again isn't acceptable and honestly, I'd fire Fontenot and let a new GM decide the fate of the current coaching staff. I don't think Morris is terrible like striker, I think there's only so many positives you can make from this rough situation.
If I'm morris I'm starting Penix next week. But I'm sure Blank has already told them their jobs are safe so they can keep throwing Cousins out there with no recourse.
I like COusins a lot, but it's clear he hasn't recovered from his injury. His velocity isn't there.
The contract isn't bad, having first round top 10 pick quarterback and not giving him the ball is bad.
Yeah, this. The benefit of having a rookie QB on their contract is you get to reap having him so cheap you can load up on other pieces on your roster. If they were gonna take Penix, they should have took him and signed a stop guy. Not giving Cousins that money even if they can get out after year 2.
