REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I also didn't notice how good of a season Burrow is having and the Bengals are still 4-8.

It's a bit of both, Burrow is having an awesome year but part of why he's having it is the team needs him to be throwing a ton. He's basically Drew Brees where if he's not perfect his team is ****ed. And even sometimes when he's perfect his team is ****ed. It also doesn't hurt that he has the best receiving situation in the NFL where he has amazing Chemistry with Both of his receivers who're in the top tier at WR1 and WR2 too.

Their defense is all time ****.

There's a good chance that if Saquon gets MVP (right now I think it's between him and Allen, I think Lamar shot himself in the foot vs. Philly, he'll need to kick ass the rest of the year or everyone else to fold) that Burrow gets OPoY.

Which is wild to hold against Lamar, becuase he's legit having an A+ year as a QB. He's on pace to throw over 4000 yards, rush for over 800 pushing him close to or over the 5000 combined yard mark, couple that with probably 40 combined TDs (a streak Josh looks like he'll be losing this year he needs to average like 3 TDs a game to not miss that mark he's only hit that number 5 times this year and needs to do it in all 5 final games)

It's wild to me that Lamar probably is the best QB in the league, probably will finish that way (seriously look at the numbers, Lamar is 2nd in passing yards, 2nd in passing TDs, but 11th in Attempts. the only QB in the top 35 in attempts with a lower INT% is Herbert.

Deebo is so washed right now. Lots of wasted salary on the roster right now I feel good about allocating to Purdy and then finding talent in draft and FA.

The Falcons are spiraling. Cousins is done. In his last 4 games he has 0 TDs and 8 picks. He hasn't thrown a TD pass since Nov 3.

On top of that, Morris is utterly incapable of getting this team out of this slide. Dude looks like a deer in the headlights.

Cousins will break your collective hearts. He'll rack up some big-time stats, but he just lacks some qualities that top-tier QBs possess.

It's even worse now. That injury killed his ability to even move within the pocket and has also prevented him from driving off that foot and stepping into his throws. He never had a great arm but now it's seriously limiting him. He basically has to work between the numbers.

I'm hoping the Falcons clean house. Fire Terry Fontenot who can't draft and Raheem Morris who can't coach. Bring in a new GM who gets to basically pick his own HC.

I doubt this happens as Blank likes Raheem Morris. He'll convince Blank that Kirk wasn't fully back from his injury but will be next year. It'll be another wasted year for a franchise who seems to think wasting years is the goal.

Raheem Morris' career HC record now stands at 27-45. That's a .375 win percentage.

Some context, there are 201 qualifying NFL coaches in the history of the game. Raheem Morris is the 27th worst by record. That's bottom 15% of all the coaches to ever coach enough games to qualify.

Of the 18 current head coaches with enough games to qualify, Morris' record ranks 18th. With the firings of Dennis Allen and Robert Saleh, Morris now has the title of the worst coaching record in the game.

This year was supposed to be Morris' chance to show hed grown as a coach or that his prior failures were the result of bad situations. Turns out, he's just a bad coach.

There are certainly some negatives from this team coming down the stretch. Cousins has looked brutal this last 4 games. Pitts has become nonexistent. I really wish we had selected the much much better pick in Chase.

This team can't stop shooting itself in the foot. Penalties and TOs are killing any momentum we create.

Also, I'd like to point out I was right about Cousins being an awful bet and also right that Morris was a terrible hire.

I don't think signing Cousins was a bad bet, it was signing him to multiple years that was a bad bet. Sure they can June 1st cut him but they also lose a lot of the advantage of having a QB on a rookie contract for those 2 years. Best case scenario Penix is good then by the time Cousins is off the book they have to pay Penix big money. I think Penix needed a year to develop but the Falcons should have used this as a building year and not trying to compete.

I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons Fontenot was able to get Morris hired by Blank was by the two of them convincing Blank the Falcons could compete immediately and signing Cousins was part of that.

Fontenot campaigned hard to get Morris hired as the alternative was Belichick who was likely to undermine Fontenot's power. Immediate competition was a promise that had to be made to get Morris hired.

Reality is the Falcons have almost no time to turn it wround. Going 7-10 again isn't acceptable and honestly, I'd fire Fontenot and let a new GM decide the fate of the current coaching staff. I don't think Morris is terrible like striker, I think there's only so many positives you can make from this rough situation.

If I'm morris I'm starting Penix next week. But I'm sure Blank has already told them their jobs are safe so they can keep throwing Cousins out there with no recourse.

I like COusins a lot, but it's clear he hasn't recovered from his injury. His velocity isn't there.

I'll let Morris' career record speak for itself.

To say Cousins velocity isn't there is an understatement. Balls are floating on him. He probably should have had 4 picks again yesterday. It took Drake London wrestling for the ball and a favorable call by the officials just to keep him from 3.

Morris and TF displayed legendary incompetence giving him that contract.

The contract isn't bad, having first round top 10 pick quarterback and not giving him the ball is bad.

Yeah, this. The benefit of having a rookie QB on their contract is you get to reap having him so cheap you can load up on other pieces on your roster. If they were gonna take Penix, they should have took him and signed a stop guy. Not giving Cousins that money even if they can get out after year 2.

I mean I'm not opposed to even doing what the Falcons did, BUT if you do that when it's clear cousins isn't healthy enough, put your kid in to get NFL snaps.

I hated the Cousins signing because I thought it was basically lighting money on fire but I hated signing him and drafting Penix even more.

If you sign Cousins, you need to use that first rounder to go for it all. Cousins was a win now move.

I'd you draft Penix then you sign a stop gap who won't block him or take up a ton of cap space.

Doing both means you don't give yourself the best chance to win it all while simultaneously missing out on having very little cap space devoted to your QB. Only the Falcons could be so incompetent.
