Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Paredes is cheap and has posted 2.5 bWAR or better in each of the last 3 years. But I think his ceiling is pretty limited, sort of like Prado. Good player to have around while they are cost controlled, but not someone you probably want to pay market value for.

Suzuki has positive value, but not a substantial amount with that contract.

I think it's decent value if you are trying to win now. But nothing earth shattering. Not sure what the Cubs are doing here.

Talking and trading are 2 different things completely. Even if we were talking to the Astros we would never know it unless it happened bc AA is so secretive. Tucker if you can get a long term deal done is that guy you trade the farm for.

If you say so. I thought Suzuki was strictly a DH. I still think it would be a horrible trade for the Astros.

Suzuki isn't a good defender, but he isn't DH caliber. At least not yet, imo.

I personally think it's poor value for Tucker, as I would rather get the prospect haul. Prospects they could potentially trade in a Crochet/Robert type of mega deal that would set the Stros up for longer run.

The Las Vegas A's of Sacramento reportedly made an attempt to sign Fried. Supposedly they want to get to 105 million in payroll to avoid a grievance by the PA. Honestly if thats the goal why not take on bad contracts to get prospects.

Suzuki doesn’t think he’s a DH. His strong desire to play on the OF is one reason they’re even considering trading him.

I saw that Teel was in the deal from Boston and was mad we didn’t do that with Baldwin as the headliner. But we couldn’t match the rest of the package Boston gave up. Bummer.

Equivalent package from us would probably be Baldwin, Caminiti, Alvarez, and Jhancarlos Lara.

Personally, I am on board the don't trade Baldwin train. And as good as Crochett was last year, that's a pretty rich package for a guy who was a reliever for the previous 5 years.

That would be a bit hard to stomach

I wouldn't be thrilled about that package either, but I fear that AA may be waiting on a good deal that doesn't materialize.

The sale health got AA feeling good? Buxton seems like a bigger risk than Acuna stealing 2b in a ST game

Buxton in a corner outfield with routine days off should be a good bet. He is not super expensive either.. I don't know what his pay escalators are, but I sure if he hit them, we would be happy as fans at that point.
