Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Latest on Cubs and Stros potential deal for Tucker would see the Cubs send Houston Isaac Paredes and 2024 1st rounder Cam Smith.

This would be a much better deal for Houston and absolutely the type of value you get for an elite hitter before a walk year.

I just don't like the idea of paying that much for 1 year of a guy. Tucker is a BorASS client, so it is guaranteed to be just a one year deal.

The Cubs already have a logjam in the OF that's forcing them to trade one of Bellinger/Suzuki, and now they want to spend major resources to bring in another OFer?

That's a massive haul for 1 year of Tucker, and the Astros should take it immediately if they are serious about dealing away a star hitter.

What is Mil doing.. I guess they are resetting everything. Trading Williams with 2 years of control. I have to think the return will be pretty big.

can we get WC back?

ok.. misread this.. Williams is on his final year.. still don't get this..

MIL is trying to compete on a budget. That means they really can't afford to have an expensive reliever, which Devin Williams is destined to be. So this move helps extend their window and they'll find a cheaper reliever somewhere else.

Looks like Phillies are about to acquire either Bellinger or Suzuki.

That would make sense after acquiring Tucker.

They’ll need a 3B now unless they’re gonna give Matt Shaw a shot. A deal including Bohm may make sense after losing Peredes

Was really hoping we would get Tucker but the Cubs aren’t way overpaying here if they don’t get an extension. Houston offered him 2 extensions and he turned them down so who knows what will happen but I hope he makes it to FA and we have a shot at him. No clue what AA has up his sleeve but options are getting slim.

They could be fixing to add Bellinger and Bergman if they trade Bohm.

Former Braves prospect Caleb Durbin going Milwaukee’s way. They must really like him since Cortes also only has one year left.

Durbin has done really well since moving to the Yankees' system. He went on their 40-man this fall after tearing up the AFL for the second time. Has been banged up a few times, largely because he plays so hard and he's not very big. Probably fits best as a 2B (Cashman had him in the coversation for being the Yankees' 2B in 2025), but has also played SS and 3B and little bit in the OF.

Meanwhile AA is scrounging through the dollar general clearance bin.

he is actually dumpster diving outside the goodwill store..

like I said, Mets and Phils are not afraid to add and spend resources and the Braves are going to be looking up at them if they are not careful.

The Braves have lost Max/Mort/JJ/TDA/Soler and added someone non tendered and a couple of spring invites. good job boys.. good job!!

Also Acuna and Strider won't be ready for opening day.. but hey lets slow play this and see what is left after all the big dogs eat. that usually works well.

Yeah it’s a little worrisome right now bc everyone around us seems to be improving but us. AA still has plenty of time but the OF options are super super thin now that Tucker and Bellinger look to be off the board soon. He’ll get some make shift OF’er like always to throw out there that we complain about all year and have to try to find his replacement at the deadline. Hopefully he surprises us soon. I’m gonna guess he ends up bringing Morton back at 15 million for another year, used Tromp as the backup C, and gets a nobody OF to platoon with Kelenic.
