Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

It will be hilarious when the Dodgers spend 300 million and fail to get past someone like the DBacks or Pirates in the LDS
 
Just looking at Jim Bowden's top 10 remaining free agents (now minus Scott), at least seven of the nine would be fits and help this team in some way - Satander, Flaherty, Profar, Yates, Kim, Estevez, and Quintana. Arguably even Bregman if you wanted to put him at third and move Riley to left. Hell even Alonso if you wanted to sign him and move Ozuna for a legit starter. What ****ing "value" is acceptable for these guys?

If you're resetting the tax or "saving bullets" for the trade deadline, ****ing say so and we'll move on.

Worst offseason for AA by far and it's not even close.

I think he'll eventually make a move to help the big league club. But not sure what he can even do to get close to LA's superteam roster.

Iglesias is 35 and going on the last year of his deal so we'll need a closer starting next year so getting Scott now would have been perfect to slide into that spot next year. And we have a huge hole as a set up man right now. This is the first time I've actually been pissed off at AA and don't care to defend him. He's dropped the ball in every way this offseason so far and thinks everybody is gonna sign for some cheap price from 10 years ago which isn't gonna happen anymore. Something is up we just don't know what. Maybe the team is being sold and he has to stay at a certain price, no clue. But to this point he has blatantly lied to everybody about the tax.
 
Hard not to feel anything but jaded that the Dodgers are doing this because they are uniquely positioned to defer a billion dollars in contracts.

Sure, they may not win the World Series everywhere because the postseason has a high degree of randomness. But that’s a weak argument that baseball has parity.
 
Corporate ownership at its finest...There shouldn't be anyone surprised here...When they keep setting record attendance season after season there is no reason to spend money. Simply stop going...
 
I know people say a salary cap is stupid and this and that but what the Dodgers have done the past 2 years is gonna start a lot of conversation about 1 if they roll off several WS in a row. The next CBA convos will be interesting bc deferrals are gonna be a big topic bc the Dodgers have manipulated the system. What would their payroll be right now without any deferrals?
 
I called it from the start - Jordan luplow type player come on down, and that's all we will get. If AA played poker, he's fold 2 aces if someone raised him.
 
Just waiting for AA pre-opening day to say that getting Acuna and Strider back in May or so will be like adding a big free agent or making a huge trade.

Should only be 6-7 games out at that point. This craptastic offseason will most likely be paid back with declining ticket sales, which will lead to declining salary.
 
We’ve stockpiled relievers, #5SP, and MIF in AAA. We have no OF depth. I’m thinking if we’re only making 1 move it’s gong to be OF.

Profar seems to make the most sense.
 
Ryan Helsley could probably be had from the Cardinals. He's the same age as Scott at 30 but is a FA after the season and will cost players to acquire and money. Maybe they can get Fredde with him.

There should be penalities like no international money /1st round pick for going over 300 million and also for not spending 100 million. The sport needs to get some competitive balance to advance the sport
