Andruw Jones HOF voting currently at 73.8% he needs 75%

Chipper said it best, if Druw has that career fully in NY, he’s a first ballot

100%. Sabathia getting in first ballot had everything to do with his time with the Yankees. If he stays in Cleveland his whole career, he'd take a decade to make it in if at all.

There's no way Druw doesn't get in next year.

There's nobody on the first ballot next year that should even sniff the HoF to take votes away. I wouldn't be surprised if Beltran, Druw, and even Utley get in next year. Utley made a big jump this year, and with how weak the ballot is next year, very possibly could get in.

I think a lot of writers put Sabathia in on first ballot not because of the Yanks thing, but because Sabathia is one of the last of a dying breed. He came up early 2000's when most starters were going 7+. And he started really young too in his teens IIRC. His WAR isn't that great, but I think the longevity helped. 250 wins for guys in Sabathia's era is about as close to 300 wins as you're gonna get.

After Verlander, I think you only have Kershaw, Scherzer as guys in the 200 win range. 300 will be all but extinct.

The last part is just not true. During his playing days, 01-19, he was 1st in wins and 2nd in fWAR among SP. He may not get in 1st ballot without being a Yankee but it wouldn't take him a decade.

I think Andruw would have been in already if he was a Yankee instead of a Brave for his 20's. But he's going to get in anyways so it doesn't matter.

The Yankee edge and winning a WS there does have some pull. But it doesn't eleveate a good player into the HOF. Otherwise Posada and Bernie Williams would be in there.

Don't get me wrong, I think Sabathia deserves to be in the hall and have no problem with him being a first ballot. I just have far less faith in the voters not to overlook a guy who toiled away in a small market. They've repeatedly proven they'll do just that.

Have they? I feel like the voting overall has improved in the last decade and things like this simply aren't going to happen anymore.

Lou Whitaker is living proof of this. Legitimately a top 10 2b all time. More career WAR than Sandberg.

It took Bagwell 7 tries. Career WAR over 80.

Edgar Martinez took 4 years. Had a career WAR of 1 less than Sabathia.

The writers usually get no doubters right but theyre inconsistent with the WAR in the 60s.

Bagwell has PED suspesion tied to him

Can't really compare Sabithia and Edgar. Only 1 SP had more WAR than CC in his playing days. Same can't be said for Edgar and and fair or not he had the DH baggage to overcome.

Also I wouldn't consider Bagwell as toiling away in a small market. Dude was the best player on a good team that made the playoffs a ton. A lot of visibility there.

What PED suspension?

Sandberg got in on his third try. You think it’s going to take Cano more than one try? Almost identical WAR to sandberg
