Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

It wouldn't even be close to 12.5% and the fact you quoted that numbers (in response to the 25% tariff) shows your lack of understand of the basic economics.

At most you'll see a 5% increase considering the COGS is at most 50% of the retail value (otherwise the ecnomics of the business is a **** show) and then you have other factors like suppliers lowering their prices / deflation of their currency / price elasticity.

So again - the ones that think we are going to se massive price increases because of these tariffs have no clue what htey are talking about.

It is undeniable that, for example, the aluminum tarrifs raised the price substantially on something like soda/seltzer/anything in a can. That is a tax on poor people first and foremost

What? The writers themselves are literally saying they don't work there anymore

And I agree. Any company like EA that priortizes DEI hires isn't going to have good game devs.

Grummz going to get around to making that game he scammed people on Kickstarter at some point?

5% inflation is also more than double the Fed target even in thethe’s cherry picked napkin math.

Like… if the argument is “we should tariff for national defense reasons” then sure. But let’s not pretend there won’t be major impact on consumers and indirectly on other industries.

Not sure how that is relevant.

Eh. I just know Mark Kerns has made it his career rage baiting gamers instead of working on a game he took hundreds of thousands of dollars from kickstarter. To be fair to you, I agree it’s not relevant to your particular post.

I think there’s truth that games companies have no idea what their customer base wants. I think an element of that is DEI. But I think the larger issue is AAA studios chase trends that shift by the time a game wraps up development.

Sony, for example, is coming off its best generation for software (better than PS2 imo). Instead of doubling down on single player games, they tried to make those studios make live service games. Freaking Naughty Dawg wasted 4 years of development on something that got canned. Such a waste.

Remember when trump wasn’t going to drain the swamp. Jesus more crow needs to be eaten. Endless crow.

You tariff for national security and protection of our citizens future. Stimulate more domestic growth and protect the borders. Prices are artificially low and on the other side of then normalization we will have a better country. But if all you care about is low prices well then you won’t like it.

Grummz is just a rage baiter. He's a guy who feels like he's owed more than he is because of working at blizzard. The last game he developed was FIrefall, which has been shut down for 8 year.s He formed a company that raised a million in seed funding to not make a game, he then raised 600K or whatever on indiegogo

He's made 1 game in 20 years. And people trust his opinions on games. It's wild to me.

Yeah, I think when a lot of people criticize DEI or wokeness in video games, what they’re actually describing is just games being made to be as broadly appealing as possible because basically every game is a gigantic sanitized operation.

I don’t understand why you were baiting us free market twerps with “lmao can’t wait for the libtardarians to eat crow when prices don’t change” when you clearly understand the point we were trying to make that tariffs lead to price increases.

I mean, except for all of us who need to buy things in that country. I don’t give a **** what “normal” prices are if they’re even more than they are now.

Price changes will be minimal and will be offset by more opportunities.

Prices won’t change materially like you guys believe and when they don’t you’ll ignore the reality. But now is the chance to see it play out because I don’t see policy changing in the next 12 years so we finally will have a runway to judge.

How do define "materially"

I could care less about his opinion. But the people at Dragon Age are gone. Just because you don't like the messenger doesn't mean it's a lie.

I promise I’ll give it as much attention as you gave the myriad of articles that aces shared that cited specific examples from the Trump tariffs v1.

What’s amusing is you’d pay more taxes if it were to go to funding healthcare and welfare.

Ah yes the analysis of impacts of complex systems after 1-2 years. Great analysis!
