DOGE

A simple email request that creates more government inefficiency than it set out to prevent. Brilliant.

A one time request to root out people who aren't holding their weight?

Do you understand how companies improve? One way to is to make sure their human capital expense (often largest expense) is well utilized.

It’s very cute when people who don’t work in offices or couldn’t make it in corporate American show they have no clue what AI is currently and what it will do to augment the workforce for those that leverage it.

You are right, I couldn't make it in Corporate America. I'm too into my freedom to deal with that ****. But AI is literally fully capable of replacing you. You not thinking that is just delusion. Machine Learning's easiest task to do is data analysis and compilation. When the boss learns to trust the analytics people like you will be let go.

Which mind you I think is bull**** because you're spending a ton of natural resources to do something humans are perfectly capable of and it's infinitely better for the world. But Corporate types only care about pleasing their shareholders, so your job will be replaced by AI. I'm excited to see the ****show that will come from our first AI CEO.

Man, imagine how inefficient my day is after answering over 20 every day. Poor guys and gals might even have to answer 2 a day if this crap continues

It's not a matter of answering that email, it's a matter of gathering that data, compiling it, making sense of it, truing it, seeing who has and hasn't sent an email, who's excused from sending said email because of being on vacation, so on so forth.

This is musk trying to force people into compliance and when they didn't he can be like "LOOK AT ALL THE MONEY THEY WASTED" or if they did he can be like "WE HAVE FIGURED OUT WHICH POSITIONS ARE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT" while still firing whoever the **** they want.

Let me say I highly support DOGE based off what I see. Now I dont take what these people say at face value so I will wait to see the actual results rather than react to what they claim. I dont want any of this cutting spending by .0001% then gaslighting that they cut trillions. If they do manage to cut a lot of spending and give out a significant amount of money back they will win big in the mid terms and probably 2028. I would give Trump credit but like always he needed someone to do it for him. The only thing he is good at is taking credit. So all hail President Musk. Much better than the felon.

I would think AI could handle it just fine.

AI is only going to make great workers even better - Companies will trim the fat of useless people that aren't doing any of the work and keep the ones that maintain the models/understand the businss/present information in a clear and concise way while also paying them more.

Just for ****s and giggles - What time frame do you think I will be replaced. It'll be amusing when you are wrong as usual.

They are actually training the repositories to identify which responses were generated by AI which is a funny side twist.

Musk and team are just looking for simple responses. They aren't going to be heavily scrutinizing this. Just a method to cut out fat which exists everywhere.

In fact, I'd bet that quite a few people will actually get promotions/recognition based ont heir responses.

The issue is someone needs to train the AI on what to look for. How to handle the data, etc.

I mean deal with the various issues. Formatting. If I send my list like this

1. A
2. B
3. C
4. D
5. E

or
.A
.B
.C
.D
.E

or ABCDE

Or A.B.C.D.E

ALl those need to be coded in.

If musk was serious about this and not just doing this for performative measures he'd create a simple form to be filled out. That can easily be parsed by AI etc.

Honestly, I think this little stunt is performative, silly, and ultimately irrelevant .

We don’t need bullet point lists from millions of bureaucrats (who are all interested in self preservation) to help decide what to cut and what not to cut.

Exactly.

Who do you rely on to understand who and what can be cut?

Dude, it doesn't even ****ing do that.

I can promise you that companies don't improve by engaging in pointless endeavors like this one. As someone who has lead Kaizen events in my current role and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified, I can promise you that emails like this serve virtually no purpose, and result in virtually no benefits.

How much time, energy, and money are being used in developing this process? How much of the same is spent evaluating the results? Again, we're talking about efficiency here.

How much time is taking to ingest tens of thousands of e-mails into a model to determine authenticity and actual usefullness? Much less than you think its taking.

Tens of thousands???

Try again home slice. There are millions of federal government employees.

I don't want a model determining usefulness and authenticity. Not to mention, the results STILL have to be personally vetted.

The time, energy, and money being used outweigh the potential benefits of finding non useful employees. Which, by the way, you aren't even guaranteed to replace that production with a better employee (whether that be a brand new employee or eliminating the role and distributing those duties to other employees).

What does that mean? Who is doing the cuts? On what basis? How do you know whats needed/productive versus not?

I’d go back to the founding documents and ask whether a particular function can/should be carried out by the federal government. If the answer is no, cut it. There’s nothing any of the thousands of Dept of Education employees could write on their bullet point lists that convinces me their agency should continue to exist.

If the intent of this was to eliminate entire departments in general, than this endeavor was even more laughably bad.
